OUSCI Chatter
Very little noise about this this year. Whats going on? What do the insiders have to say about the challengers? Will Danny Popp take the win in his less aerodynamic Camaro?, Will Steilow steel the show with his fresh build? I heard someone mention Mary was supposed to get a new Lingenfelter powerplant. Did it happen? How will she do. DSE have always been top contenders. Will it be their year? Perhaps the Golden Ticket winner Hellboy might have something to say about that. There a whole other story line... Hellboy vs the C-10 Army. What? Are there 5 of them in this race? 3 are sporting the No-Limits chassis. Where is Roadster Shop with their C-10?
What are your thoughts. Anybody plan on providing updates as it happens via twitter or facebook? |
Mayhem's weight has be kept secret.......and that might just be the car to beat. But you can bet Danny stepped it up too.
Can't wait for the showdown and the other qualifiers that may surprise everyone! |

3520 I think. The HP to wgt ratio % increase should be respectable.

I'm here - have looked over the cars.... and as far as I'm concerned EVERYBODY has raised the bar again this year. Unlike Windows 8 -- it's going to be epic this time!

I had a nice time at OUSCI today, lots of nice cars! Just wish I hadn't forgotten sunblock.

I'm a little late to the party.
For the last few years I've been helping out w the Optima parade out of SEMA. Two years ago there was a photo shoot and then off to Pahrump. Last year we pulled out of SEMA and everyone quickly scattered doing a scavenger hunt. This year I think they really nailed it: a quick trip out to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for a couple of parade laps and then off to the Caroll Shelby museum. At the Speedway I was thinking of you guys. Sorry for the bad dialogue and camera work. Everyone was in such a great mood (myself included) to kick off this year's Optima adventure.. |
Great video Ron! Hey I'm calling shot gun for next year! Coolest way to depart SEMA!!! :unibrow:
|
Thanks for the video Ron. Very Cool!

I got a quick ride around the block in it, the name "MAYHEM" is very fitting. Surprisingly it rides very good for a track set up and run flat tires. You could easily do power tour with it, except you would need a extra set of rear tires cause their constantly spinning! I know Mark was really under the gun over the last 2 months getting the car ready. Engineering/Managing/Coordinating/Assembling a project like this and having a day job and the $$$ involved is a big/stressful task for anyone. I know the full blown "Panic" buttons where being pushed two days before the car shipped to SEMA. I'm not sure the story about the rear straps failing on the dyno has been told yet, but I know they where were blessed that the car didn't come off the front tire chalks. Brian at Thomson Racing Engines, Matt & Steve at Sled Alley, good friend Gordon Rojewski, DSE, Dutch Boys and many others I know where a huge help. For me the most impressive item is the fuel tank. I watched Gordon and Mark bolt it in and it went in so quickly and easily with no hammers or grinders to make it fit into place. Mark designed/engineered it and has the diff and tranny coolers on each side. It's also brushed stainless which looks great! Everyone at FORMULA 43 is honored to have a played a part in Mark's latest creation and look forward to the next one. I hope he has a bit more time to experiment/test some new ideas he has and to keep pushing the envelope. |

Steve! Was that the best or what?!?! I was sitting up on The RS trailer and Alex had just climbed down the hatch - so it was my turn next... I get half way down the hole and I look up to see this truck totally burning the tires off and coming at the trailer sideways! I hadn't seen the beginning of the drift -- so thought he was wrecking! All I could see for half a nano second was that I was going to die when he came over the wall and took out Phil and Jeremy's trailer.... :willy:  I couldn't climb back out of there fast enough! Got to see him pound turn 10 and just rip up the straight. Awesome stuff right there! |
I was at the portable bleacher section and saw everything. The responsible thing for me to do would have to run for my life, but I just stood and stared in disbelief! If only that was on video! :wow:
|
GW I told you to keep your eye on that Truck. Why you didn't listen I don't know.:willy:
I wish they would have given him a couple more laps so he could have got comfortable with the track and really got on it.:D |

Geeezzzeeeee I've been home about 2 hours -- and I have Gwen chewing my azz and you nippin' at my heels! I agree -- I think he was just getting warmed up! I've just never seen ANYTHING like that! I feel sorry for the people that were there and missed it! |
