Ironworks is offering a full custom machined gauge cluster for a 1970-72 Chevelle.

As some of you guys know we are building a 1970 Chevelle for Fairway Chevrolet in Las Vegas Nevada. The customer wanted to do something to improve the look of the cheesy factory plastic dash. So we cut out the stock factory piece from the all plastic dash piece in these cars to Digitally scan the piece to make from a 9" x 6" x 33" piece of aluminum. It weighs just about 180lbs before machining and will be less the 20lbs when complete. I have had quite an interest in getting these dashes machined for other interested parties. So I'm putting it out there. I shoudl be able to sell these dashes for 5000 bucks. The Wiper, headlight switch and AC vents and controller will be extra. My goal is to create something cool in place of having to pay all this money for the factory new stuff from OPG.

http://www.opgi.com/p/interior-trim/...4/CH28267.html

I have enough people to make this piece actually some what kind of affordable for the masses. There is not much out there that looks really cool for these cars. And I get 3500 for a dash is spendy, but its not as bad when the all Plastic Chinese parts from OPG is regularly $2600.00 and STOCK.

Not to mention @ $2600 it will fit like $hit!! Roger, thanks for making such a fine piece. I think there is a great market out there if someone will actually take the time out and break away from 1st gen Camaro parts to tap into it for the 70-72 Chevelles.

Awesome! And a great price for a "CUSTOM" dash!

That looks cool. What CAD system you use to model this?

It started as a Laser Scan of the factory dash. Then had to reverse engineer all the gauges, the switches, led the vintage air products, and single din radio slot.
Everything was designed using UG NX 7.
This is a pretty well thought out piece. It's got all the instruments you'd need. 2 auxiliary ports for 12 volt power.
This piece will fit better than any plastic piece on the market.
Personally I think it looks better than a Covan dash.

Laser scan? That sounds cool. I thought it looked like NX. I work for Siemens & have used NX/Unigraphics since V9, back in 1992.

It definately looks a thousand times better than a Covan. Covan dashes are extremely overpriced. I used to have one. While it is an ok piece, I was highly disappointed that is was just a thin piece of vacuum formed ABS plastic for the price.

Not a bad price for that much machine time, Looks good

Streetking 11-11-2012 05:15 AM

Beautiful work guys!

Thanks Guys. Bob and Matt should get most of the credit and of course the customer for paying the bill.

nicks67ca 11-12-2012 08:03 AM

I remember seeing something that Bentley uses 1 piece dashes like this to control the amount of in-car noise. I can't help but think this would help as well, real nice work guys.

I have about one week left on this deal. We may never have a group together to do another one at a later date. This is a cheap deal for this kind of work.

ironworks 11-27-2012 11:07 AM

Final days, Black Friday Sale. How ever you want to say it. :D :D :D

I have sold 7 of these deals. After this they will be much more expensive.

We have an AC version, and a NON AC version.

That's beautiful

samckitt 02-28-2013 01:03 PM

Dang that is nice. Almost with I had a use for one.

Looks challenging & rewarding to model something like that. You need any 3D modelers......? ;-)

ironworks 02-28-2013 01:13 PM

I'm going to put the rough cut prototype in my Dirt race car. HAHA

If anyone buys one of these and paints it, they should be kicked very hard between their legs! Now if they were black anodized that would be freakin amazing.

Swain 02-28-2013 01:22 PM

Very Nice machine work. There's a ton of hours right there. Dash Looks amazing.

I know 2 of the guys plan to paint the recessed sections to minimize how much the dash stands out. With as much as these cost, they can do what ever they want. HAHA

Thanks

Simply stunning!

96z28ss 02-28-2013 02:21 PM

214Chevy 02-28-2013 02:26 PM

Top notch quality Roger. Very cool. :trophy-1302: Had I not put the Impala dash in my Chevelle, I would definately spring for one.

BBT FAB 02-28-2013 04:30 PM

Top Notch 3k is a steal!! I am sure there is more than that just in the Draw time!!

Streetking 02-28-2013 05:57 PM
