WTB: 1970-1973 Camaro
The itch is back. I'm ready to start looking for a complete car with a decent paint job. I'd prefer a SW car but would consider further if it's not a rust bucket. Budget is under 20k.
I figured I'd let the hounds loose and pick something up when the right car comes along for my next project. I'll make it worth your while if you point me in the right direction. |
I know where there is the perfect unit.

I just checked Sacramento craigslist and there are a few good deals on some rust free cars.

Let me know if your interested in any of those cars up here in Sac. I'll drag Dave up to spec them out with me. |
Theres a couple that I know of that are rust free clean rollers you can pick up on the cheap side, then there are a few in your price range running and driving but have been painted and be a little over 20k but can guarantee to be excelent running/driving complete cars if you interested. The rollers your looking at 3-6k

Nice knew it wouldn't last long

PM Travis aka Daytonayellaz I know he has a good project right up your alley
|
I like your thinking on going 2nd gen. Now if only I could get you to consider a bird instead of the camaro
Good luck on your hunt, Todd |
Thanks for the leads so far guys. I'm going to stay patient and find the right car.
|
What level of base are you looking for......one that's been frame-off or one that needs to be? Lightly, medium, or heavily modded? I'm guessing either it's going to ground zero with heavy emphasis on track performance and a few more amenities than Brian's?
|
Whats the plan? Nice Painted roller, call DSE and order every 2nd Gen part from them and drop in a nice LS motor/T56 Magnum :unibrow:
Here's a few for sale: http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/classi...ds&name=&=&sl= |
PM sent.

In an ideal world, I'm looking for a car with decent paint and a fairly clean bottom side. I want to modify it from that platform on a budget. This car will be nothing like my last car or Brians. It will be a bolt on car with performance being my number 1 priority. I don't give a crap about billet hood hinges, subwoofers, AC, tail lights, perfect paint, leather seats, etc...:unibrow: It will be a warrior with the purpose to go fast reliably with the least amount of maintenence possible.

I like this car but it has to much overspray to be worth a bid or trip to IL.

I'm just thinking if you can't even tape it off, how half assed is the whole car. The apple usually doesn't fall far from the tree.
Thanks for the offer Rick. |

So what's the motor plan if you had to decide today? I know you don't wanna go LS deep in your heart but were considering it... :faint: |
Todd,
Contact Jay (JAMES113) he's got a line on a very clean car that might work for you. Took you long enough. |

Get your lazy ass over to the SAC craigslist!! Theres a '73 pro street already painted and caged with a 13:1 small block and fuel cell for $9500. Sell all the pro street crap off of it and your half way there.

I'm going to offer a different perspective, one you've probably already considered, but I'm sometimes a master at stating the obvious... :) Have you considered that achieving your goal stated above that the 2nd gen platform may not be your best choice, especially given your desired price range? Are you absolutely set on doing this with an older musclecar instead of considering a newer platform? If 'yes' because of wanting to participate in GoodGuys or other similar type events, then I completely understand... Understand that these thoughts are coming from a second gen lover... :) But being very honest about the planned use of the car, you could buy an 02-04 Z06 for around your price range and have a heck of a lot better platform from which to build a performance car (if you shop around, you may even find one with track mods, although at likely a little higher price point). I know, it's not a musclecar, and it's not as cool to run fast in a newer car, but unless you are Mark Steilow, or having a car built at one of the high-end builders, you'll likely never get close to the performance with a low-budget / bolt-on second gen. I've struggled with this same decision: to buy a newer platform and just drive it vs. buying a musclecar and have to keep adding parts to tweak it. It's a decision that I'm still rethinking given my current situation of not having a place to work on the car (your situation is different). I know it's somewhat sacrilege to suggest the above here on Lat-G, but it really is something to consider... Good luck either way you go! |
Car looks like a real turd Gaetano. I don't have to buy a car today.
Bryan, you bring up a very good point and I haven't ruled it out 100%. I just like muscle cars due to their style and simplicity. I've had a 68, 69, and have really grown to appreciate the 2nd gens. |
