Drag racing guy's please come in
Guy's got a 69 camaro with a g-link mini tubed stock up front other than 2in lowering springs,Ls2 and 4l70e weighs around 3200lbs and car makes 440 rwhp, starting to get back into some drag racing and from what i can tell on the highway at least with this suspension setup there is no traction threw drive and this is with 325/50/15 drag radials at 17psi.The car is just son dam stiff in the rear and the springs are 12-200,kind of no what im going to do in the front but just courious if i should be looking into some springs for the back, any suggestions, also the rear shocks are double adjustable vari-shocks.THANKS!

Do you know what hole settings the front & rear of your UCA's are installed in? This will affect anti-squat % and thus affect your launch. For a 15" drag radial with so much sidewall, 17psi seems a bit high I would think?
|
what is your anti-squat? I run 125% on my drag mustang. With 10" slicks it launches with the front end of the ground at only 300 hp. Thats also a 6300rpm launch.
I would run a lighter spring in the back aswell. whats the rear end weight? |

Drag radials like lots of air pressure. I run a 255 60 15 M/T. My car makes 340hp at the wheels. I run 20psi. It will not hook on the street. Keep us posted. Thanks Eric

How much front travel are you getting? I'd loosen up the front as much as you can.
Also, give Chassisworks a call and ask them for setup advice. You could put G-Link in your thread title and maybe Carl@Chassiworks will see it and jump in here. Seeing as though I also have a G-link I'm kinda curious too :). |
I need to scale it and get some rear spring measurments, but it's going to be a day or two getting new exhaust run and i feel like going from 2in to 3in exhaust will let the old LS2 breath a lot better and create even more tire frying action,i was just tryin to get a idea on maybe some setup's people or running etc.THANKS!

first thing to do is determine your anti-squat.
Or post up the XYZ coordinates of all four think pivot points. Post up your wheelbase post up the centerline height of your cam. Just a rough assumption of CG height. If you post that up I will plug in the data into my suspension calculator and tell you your A/S |
Not sure how stock your front is, but going to assume you have non-adjustable stock-style gas shocks? If you have a stock sway bar, unhook an end link to allow some body roll, to maximize the initial bite for the rear tires.
|
Thanks for all the replys, when i get the car back i'll take some measurments, also done away with the sway bar a while back.THANKS!

Hi Fillpot,
We can help you get this machine sorted but first we're going to need to know where we're starting from. We already know that you have DA rear shocks, 5.15 travel with a 12" 200 lb/in spring. My first instinct is the spring is too stiff for drag racing but that is easily dis/proven. Please supply the following information: Spring length with suspension hanging free: Spring length with the car on ground: Shock length; bolt to bolt, top to bottom: Dampening settings: How many clicks away from full soft (zero clicks) on compression and extension? Lower control arm position (count A,B,C,D from bottom to top): Upper control arm position (count A,B on housing and 1,2 on chassis side, bottom to top): Do you have a rear anti-roll bar? If so, which one? Do you have a front anti-roll bar? What brand/model of front shocks? Quote:
