Pro-Touring was around a few years before us. Scott and I started this site in mid-2004.

HEEP 01-03-2013 03:34 AM

And I think this is the correct site to be on. I stay here because of the people. That and I still wish GregWeld was my long lost uncle.:D

Just hang around here for a while. You will see why this site stays busy.

I'mma throw my $.02 in..... LATERAL-G all day, everyday. I keep my comments to myself about Pro-touring.

Scott and Jody run a tight ship here...I like it.

LOL!!! So does mine!

I started on PT and then found Lat-g. I liked PT before all of the endorsements/sponsors. Not to mention all the various sections that have been added over the years. I just think its gotten a little out of control with all the sub-forums they keep adding to their site. Lat-g keeps it simple with a good core group of members. By far my favorite site EVER.

:geezer: :hail: :lateral: LAT-G RULES !!!:woot: :theresa:  :beavis: :cheering: :rockin:

I echo every word here. This site has given me endless support, more new friends, awesome parts deals- both retail and used, and a sense of direction when I'm kinda lost on my project. Thanks again.

skatinjay27 01-03-2013 10:44 AM

I prefer lat-g because its a smaller tight nit group, theres alot less drama here(cause if you rock the boat here we all just black list ya!)lol

Why? Does it matter?

Rybar 01-03-2013 12:03 PM

Lateral-G FTW, if ever there is a problem the way this site is handled is by far the best of any forum I have been on. Car forum or not. These guys get it. Thank you Scott and Jody. And BTW Scott you should make an appearance once in a while!! ;)

No, not really. I was just more curious than anything as I like to know things. Guess I wondered which site has more 'experienced' people in terms of knowledge etc on building these cars to handle, people with technical understanding and experience that If i wanted to build a race car, they would know what to do/not do and how 1 way or the other may benefit the car in one way or another. After looking through the entire pro-touring pictures/videos and names of people I heard thrown around here, I thought perhaps this site has more of the racing people at its core than pro-touring, it is perhaps why I started the thread. So I just wanted to find out.

You'll find good info on both sites. The majority of their members are members here also, and vice-versa.

coolwelder62 01-03-2013 02:39 PM

Pro-touring has Brian Finch,Lateral-g has Mark Stielow.

GregWeld 01-03-2013 02:46 PM

I hate this place and just as soon as I get to 1,000,000 posts I'm going to quit....:D

Even back in high school Greg was voted 'Most likely to post....

bail'.

:D

I'm on both but prefer here, find the discussions more in tune with what interests me, PT is pretty broad these days and I rarely visit there.

Oh and my wife would prefer I surf porn sites than here.... :_paranoid

This. I despise drama and a closed minded mentality. I think you get more open minds here and less "There's only one way to do something right because me and most of the people that post to this forum say so" on this forum as compared to many others. Be cool and respectful and the rest of us will too. Doesn't matter if you want to do your own thing. You'll be welcome here. Look around, we have a lot of different builds that are all over the place in terms of quality/ performance level and simply the vehicle model being built.

Do be sure to put your location up. It's just interesting to see where everyone lives and is checking in from. Go to UserCP under the small Lat-G logo. In there you'll find options on the left hand side for entering your location and building a signature

badmatt 01-03-2013 05:50 PM

I poke around on the "other site" (not a member) and I honestly feel like closing my laptop for the evening.

Here... I feel that people actually discuss rather than argue. Help rather than troll (unless it pertains to Rob or DG) as well here you see innovations from lots of different people and people don't complain about who did who's bumper tuck.

Plus Greg Weld is a cool dude, despite what people say.

Matt

So the stalking begins :_paranoid

WSSix 01-03-2013 07:29 PM

lol, no

I like how the web makes the world smaller and we get people from all over the world here.

Shmoov69 01-03-2013 07:30 PM

I'm on both and was on PT first but lurked here for years. But I think all that has been said pretty much sums it up.

But really, it would be like going to A ford fans site and asking if a ford or a Chevy is better!! LOL!

Matt@BOS 01-03-2013 07:43 PM

I like the atmosphere that this site has, which I think is a result of it being a little smaller. It makes it easier to keep up with friends and such. I do go onto pro-touring for the events section, which has a lot of information. Both of the sites have good people.

Sales@Dutchboys 01-03-2013 07:51 PM

Lateral-G all day! both sites are very useful for finding info about something your looking for. I hardly never log onto Pro-touring anymore. it seems like their is just so much going on on that website its hard to look at the project or whatever it is you want to look at. Lateral has some great people and some really cool projects going on it. and really easy to navigate around. Plus Jody and Scott are some pretty cool dudes! lol:thumbsup:

tazzz2_ca 01-03-2013 08:29 PM

Sad to see if we didn't have either and we're lucky to have both....

Facebook seems to be more immediate these days and can be very specific to a model, style or brand and it can have some pretty big communities of their own...

Don't get me wrong,,,, I do like the sense of community at both of these sites (Lat and Pro) and look forward to seeing most ;-) of you guys at the various events I've had the good fortune to attend...
In a nut shell we are all lucky.... However we might want to consider twice what we post as threads like this can sometimes polarize people/sites and cause people to move on to specific info only sites.... I'm not trying to be a kill joy,,,, I just don't see what practical benefit comes out of a thread comparing the communities,, however I do see a possible down side as expressed above....

Rod P 01-03-2013 08:57 PM

I enjoy both sites

I guess I need to post here more I just realized I have 2000 post over there and a hundred here! :willy:

Well said Albert. You probably remember the guy who started this thread:

http://www.pro-touring.com/search.ph...id=2363915&pp=

LatG and PT both serve a purpose for thier general audiences. I think the reason we typically refer to PT as the 'other' site is for descretion (i.e. no direct slam) and not to offend anyone. Why start now? We're all car guys right?

Watch the OP. For a NewB, he'll stir a bit of knucklehead commentary. Not sayin' that's always a bad thing, though...:lateral:
