The next BIG thing in Pro-Touring?????

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAA! I'm sorry but I saw this stuff this morning and I think I need to get to the emergency room for broken ribs I laughed so hard. Usually I don't flame stuff but I just can't seem to even come close to wrapping my brain around something this silly! You gotta see this stuff. Could pro-Touring ever be inspired by this stuff???

On a side note, the yellow Matador - I gotta give the guy an A for effort, I just don't know if it got better lookin or worse lookin'.

John

Hdesign 03-29-2006 07:40 AM

That just made my day! Are they kidding? For some reason I'm reminded of the PSA commercials...."This is your brain, this is your brain on drugs...any questions?"

I actually think the Matador isn't that bad aside from the color. That was a lot of work to polish that turd.

Steve Chryssos 03-29-2006 07:43 AM

The Matador ain't bad. It just needed to be black.

RussMS 03-29-2006 07:45 AM

Silly - Definately

I think we are seeing the natural result of ever increasing wheel size. I imagine this trend will not end until we have monster truck size rims with 1/16 of rubber on the road.

Thanks for the good laugh this morning.

XcYZ 03-29-2006 07:51 AM

Hmmm, I think I know where John is going with this.

Derek69SS 03-29-2006 07:59 AM

Think those would clear a 22" rotor?

JohnnyGMachine 03-29-2006 08:09 AM

Where AM I going with this Scott??? LOL!

Instead of "DUBS" these are called "RUBS"

MaxHarvard 03-29-2006 08:51 AM

LOL i really doubt this'll be the new trend... its just... well... fugly.

Sorry to say it's pretty popular down here in South Florida... :wow:

RaceMan 03-29-2006 09:38 AM

Yea, the quality of the work on the yellow car looks pretty good.. just needs a few aspect tweeked..

The first two make baby Jesus cry..

T Bell 03-29-2006 11:16 AM

I too am sad to say that down here, this is the "in thing". I think the big wheels are the start of it. Then when people reach the biggest size that their car will allow, they raise the car to get even bigger wheels. Stupid at best. "My rims are 22s. Oh yeah, I'm putting 26s on my Hyundai."

MaxHarvard 03-29-2006 02:00 PM

What kind of folks are driving these? I'm curious to know if its eccentrics or what!?

one+g 03-29-2006 03:03 PM

26 " wheels

Funny to raise a car to install wheels so large the car is as high as the 4x4's of people they think are rednecks!!!! I have seen rockcrawlers lower than that Green car!!!! If you ever caught one like that in my driveway i WOULD BE approaching it with a torch to chop it down!

customcam 03-29-2006 03:45 PM

i think they call them High Risers lol :faint:

Diognes56 03-30-2006 01:21 AM

I hate "Donks" :( . What the hell kind of name is "Donk" anyway?!?

David

black2002ls 03-30-2006 05:53 AM

unfortunately, here in TX they are doing this. I have seen numerous big body caprice's and even a monte carlo or two that are sporting 22+" wheels. It looks utterly rediculous. They sit higher than my truck....and I'm not joking. I almost wreck everytime I see one cause I'm laughing so freaking hard.

XcYZ 03-30-2006 06:30 AM

24's, bitch.

This word originated from bad handwriting when someone tried to put "Dork" on paper.

Thanks Scott! :D

JohnnyGMachine 04-03-2006 10:42 AM

I knew this would get everybody laughin. I'm sorry but I can appreciate the lowrider Impalas and I can even be entertained by the SUVs with the wheel spinners at redlights but the DONK "build style" (and I use style loosely here) is just pure comedy on wheels. I think DONK comes from the word DONKEY meaning "Jack-ss" LOL!

According to a post on the Impala SS forum, it was explained like this:

"Donk" refers to the '71-76 impalas, which look like they've got a big ass end, and which is what "donk" is hip-hop slang for.

Then there are the "Boxy" caprices ('77-90) and the "Bubble" ('91-96's, which I prefer to call the "whale-body" :) )

DONK.... havent you been fallowing the conversation

JohnnyGMachine 04-03-2006 07:56 PM

Hey Derek, I appreciate you defining DONK for me but man, it can mean whatever but there's still no way in heck I can find a thing to appreciate about that build style. Some people may find it to be the hot ticket but I can't help but laugh my head off when I see it - just ridiculous looking. I can't even seem to figure out if there's any functionality even left to the car. I see that and I think of a dude with glass fishbowl heels, a pink suit, a big rimmed hat and a giant feather hoppin' outta dat ride G!

Peace out,
John

jy211 04-04-2006 06:21 AM

I've built this...454, th400, 373's, 550hp.....this is before 22" and bigger started being installed on these cars...

and when I sold it...guy came to check it out...took him for a ride up the street. By the time we made it back to my house he had a $2500 deposit....came back the next day with $16.5K in a Nike shoe box

68protouring454 04-04-2006 07:40 AM

donk

donk is gay

JohnnyGMachine 04-04-2006 10:20 AM

well, the difference with your car is the wheels fit INSIDE the wheel wells, not under them. That actually doesn't look too bad, not my taste but that doesn't look like a DONK car to me. If the front was lowered about 1.5-2" it'd be even better.

John

Sales@Dutchboys 04-04-2006 10:30 AM

That crap just dont do it for me..........I dunno.......

jy211 04-04-2006 10:45 AM

unfortunately it's a popular thing down here. Company's make lift kits for the "donks" and "bubbles".....so some are profiting off it...

ls67 04-05-2006 10:53 AM

donks

i think the whole reason for the lifts on these rides is for a better advantage point on drive by shootings. :drive:

fasstasheck 04-05-2006 11:35 AM

my favorite thing about the pink "24's, bitch" is that it doesn't even have a lock cylinder in the door... so I bet they owned that lovely vehicle for at most an entire week. That's how long it took some other thug to get jealous of his 24's... bitch

and003 07-24-2015 10:41 PM

My thoughts.

The next BIG thing in Pro-Touring? As far as these donks are concerned ... not likely. The Matador has some possibilities, however.
