New Tire, BFG "Rival"

Good info here at DSE...

http://www.detroitspeed.com/speednew...aunch-pg1.html

Just ordered at set from tirerack. Stacy at DSE said Tirerack has exclusive rights to sell the tire for now.

Looks like a winner!

That's cool BFG finally came out with a tire that will be competative in events they sponsor. It will be interesting to see how fast they are.

10-4... I want to see some feedback from someone impartial. Nothing yet. :)

Hey, I hope they are a kick ass tire. I just wouldn't run out and buy them right now.

I've had conversations with Stacy Tucker and the guys at Tirerack that have driven the tire, and they say that they are the best tire available in the 200 rating.

I really just wanted something new that worked in the typical PT sizes of 18x275 and 18x335 and these fell in my lap at the perfect time. They are gonna be great for me cause I don't know any difference! Should be a great tire to go out and learn how to Autocross this summer.

I'm sure that there will be alot of feedback in the next couple of months from those that really have experience with different tires.

Matt: Thats real good news! Tire selection for the 18"/335 w200 treadwear is fairly slim. bf kdw2s-mich ps2-pirelli, I dont think the hankooks or falkens are available in a 335/18. Im spoiled on the r888s but if I want to play at GG, I might just try these rivals.

Awesome. Did you get the 3 rib or 4 rib tire?

I would like some more feedback as well. I'm curious if it is an appreciably better tire than the Pilot Super Sports. Everyone loved the NT05 and when I tried them I wasn't too keen on them, so I get the feeling I'll eventually have to buy a set and see if I like them. We all have different driving habits that likely favor different tires.

Anyway Dave, what do you care about these new tires. I thought you were busy saving up bubble gum to mold around your wheels for your race car?

Oh I'll probably end up buying a set of these too. They are the sizes I need. I just don't wanna be an early buyer.

I got the gum stockpile all set. And they are WAAYYY cheaper than these things. Just need the 200 TW tires now for those "street car" events. :poke:

Not sure if this guy is connected or not, but at least he is outside of the PT circle. http://www.solomatters.com/2013/02/t...what-it-means/

I was testing with Kyle and Stacy at the very first tests of the Rivals on the auto-x and at Kershaw, these tires are significantly faster than the kdw's and have much better wear. I killed a new set of kdw's over those 2 days and the rivals Kyle was running had better than half the tread left.
