first gen side mirrors

Hey guys,

Looking for ideas on side mirrors for a first gen. I saw one time on the board someone had C-5 mirrors which looked good but what other ideas do you have? Any pics of what you have?

Thanks, Kurt

IMO, C5 mirrors are way too big and round for a ponycar and when using parts from newer cars, consider when that car was designed and that era is when that part will be rooted. The C5 for instance was deigned around 94 and the last generation Camaro that a lot of people pirate parts from was deigned around 1989-1990. Not the automotive styling high point which is food for thought when looking over that "good deal" on some parts to add to your car that was designed during a high point in automotive styling.

I test-fitted some 70-73 mirrors on my 69. Basically a bolt on and looked very good in my opinion.

If you happen to install, or at least test fit them soon let me know how they fit.

Thanks,
Rod

I like the looks of the LeSabre mirrors... these.

I put the Buick mirrors my car they didn’t require any trimming but I had to make a special cup washer for them.

I test-fit the second-gen mirrors on mine, I liked them. I think there are some photos of them at the link below.

Mirrors on the Mule

The mirrors on the Mule were off an 1977 Chevelle that I found at a Pick-a-Part in Arizona for a $3.00 for the pair.

$3, aw you make me sick. I thought I was getting a great bargain on ebay for $69 plus the $14 shipping. $3 is the price of the box they are shipped in.:(

Brian, what is the "cup washer" you are talking about? I plan to put a set of the lesabre mirrors on my 68. Any info would be appreciated.

I have the same, like Mark I paid $15 at the Daytona Spring Show, I might have a extra set in the attic,

I have them on my Chevelle too  I like to think I was the first one to use these (5 years ago) since I hadn't seen it done before a LeSabre came into the body shop with a busted mirror while I was working on my chevelle.

I like those Buick mirrors!! I used Cobra kit car mirrors for that vintage look. Look close between the mirror and the door. You will see some simple stanchions we made to get the angle right since Cobras are very different than Camaros.

That's a good looking mirror. Nice and small.

70-73

I bought a set of those off ebay for a 67 and did not use them because they block the vent window and I thought it would not loook right with them on a 67. If someone wants them I will take 35.00 for the set plus freight.

I have them also and can not use bec. stupid vent windows. I'm pissed at this side vindows you have no idea. Next time I paint my car I will get 2 complete 68 doors and change the them 67 doors.

I went and bought those too knowing that it would block the vent window on my car. Fact is they will never need to be opened, and if I find that it's a problem, I will put something else there.

B Schein 04-06-2006 06:54 AM

I can’t open my vent windows either not only do the mirrors block them but they hit the 4th gen dash also.

Are the Buick mirrors smaller than the C5 mirrors? They look similar. I have debated on what mirrors to run for a long time and I have C5's for it now. Since I am as low as a Corvette, I want plenty of mirror to see what idiots are around me. Function (safety) is over ruling form on this issue for me.

Understandable. Some guy will be looking at your car then hit it by accident because they were looking at it closely. Seen it before.
