Painted the Track Rat..
And it was never racking.. trying to do something "different" is a pain! Now I know why every other car is red. :)
Was going for '53 Porsche Azure blue.. but Dupont couldn't find the formula.. thier first try was WAY dark. So we used the Atlas color chart and found what we thought was close. Turns out it's brighter.. like a darker Laguna Seca blue.. it's pretty and when it gets kitted out with trim/wheels/stuff it will really pop. Next week we assemble Track Rat and Jon at Best Of Show will lay down the CF and blood red graphics.. we will also be doing a tatoo on the lower front fenders. http://i48.tinypic.com/15sal3d.jpg |
Looks great Steve!
|
That does look great, and nice to hear from you again.
|
Looks good. I agree the trim and wheels will set it off.
|
That's a pretty cool lookin color. Definitely different. :D
|
Nice
 LOOKING GOOD Mr, Steve
|
Color looks cool.
What are the build plans for the car again? Does this car have a tci or chassis works suspension? |

The paint has been waiting for Chassisworks new cage to arrive.. but I finally got tired of putting it off and painted.. the next day they called and said it was ready to ship. lol.. we should be able to weld it in without hurting the paint since the cage has a nice design that makes this easier. Forgeline wheels (darker centers/polished hoops).. 582 fuel inject high-rpm big-block tied to a a T56 Magnum back to the 9-inch. Later we will upgrade the rear to Chassisworks new floater. |
Glad to see this AND you have been revived!
Love the color. |
Wow...
Really like the color and motor choice. What led to the EFI 582 being used? Also, what are the specs on it? |
I agree with Greg, I was wondering what you have been up to..
I love that blue! cant wait to see it with some goodies on. |
Baby blue..... It will look nice next to the orange one.:D
|
I like the color.Nice change.

COMP four-lobe cam (hyd) with short travel lifters and a set of T&D shaft rockers. Will start with a carb and then move to an EFI system. I did the big-block for the sake of the magazine.. I would rather have an LS, but I readers don't want every project to be a darn LS engine. Later I can swap if I want, but the BB should be fun and not a lot heavier than the blown LS I was going to put in the car. Besides, Track RAT should have a RAT engine.. right? |

Besides, the Gulf cars were REALLY baby blue.. and they were sorta fast. I know it's not a trend-setting as black.. but it's somethin' ;) |
Cool colour Steve, glad to see you back on the site as well.
If I am not mistaken you have the quarters and fenders stretched on this car correct? That BB sounds very cool. Got any pictures of it or any other parts/build shots of the car you can post? |

Not everyone hates the purple. You just need to embrace your true target market. http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...psb9db560e.jpg |

I'll vote blue all day long. I love blue. Very beautiful.

Wow, I missed that fact. Assuming all aluminum? Projected power? I'm assuming 825-850hp and 775-800 ft lbs. And I thought you broke parts on Penny.

No, iron block.. I'm not a baller like you.. But, lightweight internals and a shaft rocker system.. I'm doing it for my non-LS readers and because I just want to tinker with something different. Later I envision an LS swap. Going conservative on the power.. 760ish hp and 750ish tq.. |

Carb at first then a FAST EFI .. the new one that can support up to 1000 hp. |
Love the color -- it's sure to make all the magazines... Well... at least one for sure. :D
It will also be interesting to read / hear about the true differences of running the weight on the nose and the comparisons to Penny / LS motor etc. It might just be that we'll learn there's not that big of a deal with an extra couple hundred pounds up there - or we might learn what it takes to overcome that - or maybe we'll find out that there's a myth being busted. Who knows -- but it for sure will make great fun to live with Steve thru this adventure! :popcorn2:  |

With your cam/shaft rocker/rev plans, I bet you are easily over 800 hp with that thing. :guns: |
