paint inside of windshield, anyone?

Any of you paint a one inch black band on your windshield before installation? Thought we had a thread on how to on the forum pages but I can't seem to locate it.

Had the glass guy do it on my Chevelle, really looks clean. He had a special paint he used, and had a clear bonding agent he put on with a small brush.

Subscribed in case someone can offer a DIY product. Something I have an interest in as well.

Regular auto paint won't stick.

Yep -- that 3M has a "dauber" in the cap... ya just run that bad boy around and you've got black band.

Any additional surface prep or masking concerns that might not be explained on the container? Thanks

Steve probably could answer this better than I --- but there's no need to mask anything... ya just grab the dauber - hold it tight - and use your thumbnail or knuckle (might wrap some tape on your knuckle first) to set the margin and just start runnin'.....

They're new windshields, we just clean with glass cleaner, mask it off with pin striping tape and mask the "window" area for vin with an address label. Works great!

Trust me on this one -- that's WAY more complicated than it needs to be. :D
