Project ~ " Warhawk "

Well, been putting off putting up details of this one. This here is a direct result of listening to others, (Rich) and keeping my other RS/SS somewhat stock, and not making it a full blown PT car. The plan for this one is Track and some street. Its going to get all the goodies. Got a jump start from Dave "Flash68", as he graciously sold me his front and rear set up off of his car. Thank you Dave!. and Thank you Rich, for coaxing me to spend more money!

The hugger orange is cool, but this build is aiming to sport an Army Tan.... (or Army Green)

http://www.smallordersworth.com/imag...00-02-TAN).jpg

It's going to be a tribute build to my Father, who served in Vietnam.

The first thing he did, when he got back, was order a 67' Camaro!
I was told he waited 2 months to receive it.

It'll be sweet!

Looks like it'll be fun.

Man, olive drab green with some black stripes all in a matte finish would look really cool. Maybe work in a white star or your father's company's insignia on the tail panel? There's a lot of ways to make this car look great and convey the proper appreciation. Great idea.

That's it!.. been doing some research. Olive Drab(Huey or Chinook style) with U.S. Vehicle markings. My pops dog tag #'s. Rich has been pumping out ideas... some canvas for door panels, army belt straps. flight suit/helmet. It ought to be a cool base to work off.

That there down bar set up was pried from the clasp hold of Mr "Flash68" Dave Gordon., and "Badmotorfinger" He was gracious enough to part with it, and I was able to acquire it. I believe he got it when he originally bought the car. It is a cool set up,,, but that center bar is a heavy S.O.B.

4 point Roll bar is D.S.E. -, The plate making up the corner grasps on a solid section, allowing for a solid location for mounting. Were still working on bringing in some additional bars inside, down by the seat, and up to firewall back.

Yes the car is over at Rich's shop. "CrossRamRich" - Road Touring Customs
If you guys are in the area, you can usually catch him there in the evening.. after 5... till.. the beers run out... So.. bring some Bud Light with you!

Progress

Thanks fot the nudge! I need that once and a while!.

The underside has been cleaned up. Sheet-metal gone thru, seam seal as needed.. underside undercoated.
Front end assembled and gapped for auto-body.
Working on roll bar design down bars by the side of the seat.

also have to re-design the cross bar that goes across the engine bay, as the stock original cowl hood interferes with the bar / vise versa. (Dave Gordon's
car had a fiberglass hood that didn't have all that metal in the way).

I am waiting on receiving the rear axle housing from Speedtec so we can test fit the new Torque Arm. Powder-coat to follow. :fluffy: :fluffy:

A funny thing on the lower front panels. they had this built out
mudflap type thing on the fenders, just behind the front wheels.
Rich and I were looking them over, and they did one hell of a
metal job on them, as they didn not appear to have been cut
or modified from factory origional

Both sides were identical, but the outside body part, did have bondo to fill in the swooping curve.

has anyone else seen this?

Justin@EntropyRad 02-11-2015 07:40 AM

Still going OD Green?

I've got a gallon of Jeep Rescue Green in my garage I'd donate to the project

HPIcustoms 02-11-2015 12:39 PM

Awesome build and loving the ideas of the military theme.

califconstruct 02-11-2015 03:44 PM

Cool... thank's for the offer!.. Justin... I think that Jeep Rescue Green might be a bit on the wild side!!...

You can do a military tribute, without going overboard. Great taste on the color choice, love the 67 camaro's - very down to business looking cars.

Yeah, I'm still sticking by this two year old comment. :D

Though, your choices in green are damn nice as well. Good luck!

forward progress

So I've been diligently getting ready to jump into this build.
Been working on the design - renderings and really excited about it.
The military/tribute theme is going to be subtle, yet have that stealth look. Holding out on them till their just right. its gonna be badass!

right now mainly prepping to get some epoxy coat primer on.. and sort out the little dings. Undercoating Is done. Still need some mods on the roll bar and front engine compartment bracing.

"Joan" the red one, has been taking up my time, since I've been finishing up the electrical, and smaller details on the LS6 that I recently installed.
