5 Attachment(s)
I'm new to this site. I really enjoy it. I like to show off my project that I built. 1987 Olds Cutlass with a 99 LS1 swap. I did the swap back in 2003 and every year I do more to the car. The car is almost finished accept for the baer brakes for the front. Here a list of what I have done:
99 LS1, 99 4L60E, Hotchkis Total Vehicle System, Moser 12 bolt, Eaton Posi, 3.73 gears, Torq II 17x7 front 17x8 rear, Goodyear Eagle F1 235 45 front 255 45 rear. My current project is 1966 Impala SS with 540 cu in BBC. and my daily driver is 1996 DCM Impala SS |
Scott, what a nice swap. That LS1 looks factory in there.
Welcome aboard. |
Nice Cutlass. LS1 looks like a factory install.
|
Nice Cutty! :hail: I live in Saginaw, where's Stevensville at?
|
I wish I never sold mine...those are great cars. Definitely a future collectable.
|
Yes! Another Oldsmobile with a Chevy engine! :D My '72 has a big block Chevy in it, makes the purist cringe!
Nice lookin' ride too! I had an '86 442 as a driver for a while. Loved that car! Right up until the lady ran the light and totaled it anyway! What are you rinning for a tranny? Also, what sort of fuel milage do you get in it with the LS swap? Shiny Side Up! Bill '72 442 "Inamorata" |
MCSSGMACHINE
Stevensville is located in the southwest lower corner of the state. It 23 miles north of the state on the shoreline. ProTouring442 The tranny is a 4L60E trans out of a 99 WS6 firebird. I even left the car with a column shift. That took custom linkage and modify the stock crossmember. |

I think it's in the twenty but, I can't keep my foot out of it. I really never check the mileage. I built the car to have fun and go fast. I thought about taking the corvette covers and painting them body color and air brush olds logo on them.
|
I think he meant odometer mileage, not fuel mileage. :D
|
nice to have another cutlass on here will you be at the olds homecoming this june 17 at langsing mi. check it out at www.reolds.org/homecoming.htm

Ls1 Olds 442
nice car dude, i think i saw your car last year in memphis,tn at the 2007 HOT ROD POWER TOUR, or maybe just another olds almost exactly the same as yours with the ls1, baer brakes but this one had the 442 stripes. do you have any updated pics?
|
That car is sick!!! My first hot rod was an 87 Cutty. I couldn't afford insurance on a sports car because I had just started driving, so I built up a 350 from an 84 Vette and threw it in there with a Built Th350. NYPD just loved me cruising the streets of brooklyn in that beast. It's nice to see people are still doing these up.

I had a 86 Cutlass about 15 years ago, and we took a 73 Olds 455 put some good heads on it and made it look exactly like the V8 that cam out of it. The intake was a duel plane Offy. We ground all the id off of it and painted it the same color as well. The only difference was that the 455 was about 1 1/2 inches wider, but if you weren't looking closely you would never tell the difference. We even had the smog air pump put on. We emptied it out and just ran the hoses. We put the smog trees onto the stock exhaust manifolds and it was pretty believable. Sure did surprise a lot of 5.0 Mustangs. Even when they looked under the hood they would just scratch their head in disbelief. It was a pretty good sleeper. Ty |

No I was not on the power tour last year. I hope to do the power tour this year or next. I do not have any updated pictures of the cutlass right now. In a few months I’ll be added a set of ATS spindles, C5 brake calipers and rotors, and Hotchkis upper arm. The motor mounts that I used were a set from Street & Performance which then allowed the uses of stock motor mounts for a 350 Chevy for a Monte Carlo. The headers are a set of Dynatech header for a 98-02 f-body. The driver side fit in with no problems but the passage side had to be modified to fit. I will upload a few pictures of the 66 Impala SS in few days. For Right now I have been rebuilding my garage so no work was done on the cars since July. Back in July my neighbor started fire in his wood burning stove to burn trash and left it. It burn down his garage and got our garage too. The cutlass was in the garage at the time of the fire. Good thing I work ¼ mile from home and was able to get the cutlass out with only a little smoke damage inside the car. I got very lucky. So we are building a bigger shop. We should be moving back in to the new garage in a few weeks.

Nice cutlass, my set up will be similar to yours, but old style with a carb and a 700r4 instead of the electric. How well does it hook up with the Hotchkis system? What exactly is included - especially in the rear?
Also, do you know where to find new/OEM rear tail lights - the big red plastic ones. |
NICE CAR!!!
Very tastefully done. Can't go wrong with the LSx engines, that's for sure. Any updated pics/mods? |
Awesome car! i have a cutlass with a Chevy 350 in it. my next cutlass gets the LS1. enjoy the new garage too. looks like its going to be awesome.
|
Sucks your garage burnt but your getting a new one tho.

87 cutless swap ls1
I am doing an ls 1 swap in a 1987 cutless now. The engine is a 1999 5.3 truck motor. I am using the truck intake which I have been told will not clear the hood. I also need a low profile oil pan. I need a little help on the pan you used, any frame work, headers, a low profile alternator adaptor, adaptor for ac bracket, radiator, the engine mounts you used, inch forward etc. I already have my harness, computer, and a turbo 350 with adaptor ready. Also, did you have to modify the cross member.
Once I get the motor in I will post pics. I also notching the frame for 315 or 335 tires once the motor is in. Thanks. Dave. |
cutlass ls1
The majority of the components I used were from a 98 Camaro, kept the manifold and installed custom cat-less exhaust. Ls1 fits in like a glove until you decide to go with headers. The next on my list then a supercharger at the same time. !987 Cutlass Supreme with 550+ whp will be fun!

Here I have my 1987 Cutlass Supreme Brougham. Just had a 98 Camaro z28 ls1 with transmission,
Grand National 3.73? posi rear end (Will being swapping that in a year when I can afford to supercharge current engine(114K miles and seems to be running strong especially after the first SEAFOAM, which showed a bit of carbon build up as with any 14 year old engine with the miles). Came Warrantied with 6 months !!! Have performance exhaust system with her quiet as can be until about 5k rpms, kinda going for complete sleeper so leaeving everything stock appeal, Exhaust hidden behind rear tires, Front 25mm sway bar(made noticeable difference compared to stock body roll. I left the Column shifter cause I did not want to take away from original condition of the interior. and the only changes that I will ever make to interior of the car are safer seat belts, ceiling re-upholster, navigation unit. Has a set of American Racing Wheels with good low profile tires that actually hook up instead of the stock 14 inch wheels that come with the car/BOAT from factory that would just roast rubber for 300+feet... Well here is the first pic I am posting, Keep in mind I need to take off and clean the chrome strip residue from peeling it off on the side of car cause I am not fond of certain pieces of chrome, but i am still going to leave it stylish. also getting lowering springs next week, cause with the aluminum block as opposed to the stock engine the front end sits up as its in "pre-wheelie mode." If i could get some feedback that would be awesome!!! Hope the 1 measly maybe two if I dig another up will show some of the cars integrity. |
Any updates? Are you having with fun that cutlass at the motorstate classic.
