70 Elco at BBT

Finally getting around to posting this up I guess because I finally got around to working on it! Hope everyone enjoys watching the build! I bought this car in high school and drove it for a couple years, but of coarse I decided I needed to do a complete teardown. So here I am 6 yrs later finally making progress..

Well I know you still have a way to go but I got you covered on all the coatings you need for this project! You know my number! :D

DOOM 04-23-2013 07:42 PM

For some of you guys who may not know Pete is Troys right hand man at BBT Fabrications. He to works magic with metal!!

onefast70elco 04-23-2013 08:34 PM

Well if anyone didn't already spot the obvious, the bed has been shortened up 6 inches because we thought it just too long behind the wheel.. Also when the bed moved forward the bottom didn't line up. so I decided to drop it an inch lower than factory, while also adding the body line from the front of the car, to the rear section behind the bed. The other stupid thing I don't get, is the "drooping" body line that drops right after the door on chevelles and elcaminos.. I decided it needed cut out and replaced it with a new panel that stays straight. Very small detail but it bugged the **** out of me!

GodSpeed 04-24-2013 05:36 AM

Well its about damn time... Glad to see your working on her.

syborg tt 04-24-2013 11:11 AM

Pete take your time on this one. I need at least two years to save up some money so I can buy it when you finish it.

waynieZ 04-24-2013 11:11 AM

Nice project, can't wait to see more.

onefast70elco 04-25-2013 07:37 PM

Mario that would be amazing if you could do that!! Ok Marty I figured it out I'll trade you for your Camaro and then I'm going to change your bike rack into a fishing pole holder..Perfect for a redneck like me! Hit the track and stop by my honey hole on the way home!

onefast70elco 04-25-2013 07:51 PM

As for details, I'm pretty strict on budget for this car.. I've got BBB. (Broke budget builder disease) I'm modifying darn near every panel on the car because that's what I'm into and it doesn't cost me a dime. I'm going to run a mild 6.0 with 6 spd trans out to a built 9in.. I was smoothing and modifying a stock chassis but someone stole the frame and cut it up and Took it to a scrapyard. That made my decision to build the full chassis for the car pretty easy and I'm actually glad it happened now because this chassis will be way better. It has C6 Corvette in the front based off of an art Morrison chassis and it has a four link with a panhard bar in the rear. I also scored a sweet set of forgelines on here last year that were pretty much garbage but I re-hooped a few wheels, did some painting, powder coating, and now we're back in business. More to come soon fellas! Thanks for the comments, it's the best motivation!

onefast70elco 04-25-2013 07:57 PM

A buddy of mine Nelson did this quick sketch for me a while ago.. He is very talented and full of awesome ideas.

Great project Pete. I'm a big fan of your work.

Not sure what 4 bar you are running in the rear but let me know if you might be interested in any billet parts for it. We've been working on a few things and would love to help you one the build. BBB support is my specialty.
