One Lap of America
Try to keep the updates here. We have several members running in this years event. :trophy-1302:

Just heading south of of Louisville now. OLC is kicking butt in Vintage American with a second in wet skidpad and first in autocross. Jon and I finished third and second, putting us 2nd overall in class.
So far no problems except Jon got us lost for about 15 minutes. The three of us, Jimi in AMXess too, are moving along to Talladega for an exciting stay at the Super8. 80% chance of rain tomorrow (BOOOOOOO!!!) We've been on the road for 3-1/2 hours already with another seven to go before bedtime, and it raining pretty hard already. Andy Holis in his '89 CRX took the overall win in autocross this afternoon. It's a super car and very well driven. |
Congrats Carl, and thanks for the updates. I know it's tough to fit them in with this event.

Update from Jimi Day:

I managed to make it out to the OLOA event for the second session at Talladega GPR. I had the pleasure of meeting James, Mary, Carl and Jimi and got to see their cars along with the rest of the field. It was cool to walk around at the paddock and see some of these cars before they hit the track.
Some observations: -The AMXess car is a really cool piece of machinery and it looks great. -The HFC looked great with the new hood and front valence. -The OLC update is awesome and it looks great at speed. The wing really looks cool. -The DSE car actually does sound as good as everybody had said -GTR's are blazing fast -The Mercedes SLS sounds like a jet fighter at speed. http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/z...psf6fed398.jpg http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/z...psf2c21007.jpg http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/z...psbcf398e9.jpg http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps5f6a56fa.jpg http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps3b147c6f.jpg http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps321cef0b.jpg http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps95b166a2.jpg http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps8cc6634e.jpg |
Thanks for the pics and the updates.. Super Cool

It is one thing to see these cars on the net, it is another to see them at speed.

Ill take the oppounity provided by the OLOA computer glitch to post this headline
"In the Talladega afternoon session, team OLC posts the fastest overall time on 32.39 seconds, over 2 minutes and 30 seconds faster than TSM." They are gaining ground in their class, SSGT2 Big Bore, with 2nd in class. In the afternoon session they finished 1st in class and 11th overall. Keep up the good work Kyle, Ryan, and the White Monster. If you see them along the highway, give them a salute. They may even get some good food tomorrow with Stacy’s parents living just 20 minutes from the track and being the official DSE cheering section! Hoping for good weather. |

Carl is sending us updates from the road as he goes telling us what it is like competing in this amazing event. I like the pic of 'The Big 3'.

Reminds me of the fun that happens on Power Tour, with a lot more racing mixed in.
Jimi Day and Steve Anderson shared James Shipka's photo. https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...28457221_n.jpg Some gas station maintenance - One Lap of America style - somewhere in South Carolina https://fbcdn-profile-a.akamaihd.net...70731270_q.jpgJimi Day shared James Shipka's photo. We found out that one good shock and one broken shock doesn't last long for extended highway travel. Luckily our teammates had some spares that almost fit and we got down the road to Camden and will be competing at CMP tomorrow. |
Jimi Day shared Centerforce AMXess's photo.
Everyone's lap times were off this afternoon as the track started to lose some grip in the hot afternoon sun. https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...06223064_n.jpg We're done at CMP and on our way to BMW test center for a quick one lap around their test track. Onward after that to Viginia International Raceway. The afternoon session felt good, the lap times were slower, but I felt better in the car after the repairs. WE WILL ADAPT! James Shipka Round One at Carolina Motorsports is in the books - Mary 1, Carl 2, Jimi 3. Two seconds separated 1 and 2 and another 2 separated 2 and 3. We're sitting first in class and 22nd overall... Round 2 coming up shortly followed by at "short" 150 mile transit to BMW and on to Virginia. Mary Pozzi I am so proud of our One Lap team and especially so of our Camaro. Took a peek at the Carolina Motorsports Park afternoon track results and we finished 16th overall. The Camaro was nothing less than perfect! Thanks so much to all the people that have helped us along the journey and throughout the build and upgrades. We could not have done this without you ... (James, you built a "10"). https://fbcdn-profile-a.akamaihd.net...14601957_q.jpgDetroit Speed One Lap Update: It’s good to be home! Kyle, Ryan and the White Monster Camaro took home field advantage to a new level with a 1st in class and a 6th overall finish during the morning session at Carolina Motorsports Park. This picks them up crucial points in the chase for the top team in their class. Good luck this afternoon! |

This time it was Kyle’s turn in the driver’s seat. He finished 4th overall and 1st in class still without 4th gear. They managed to shift around 4th gear all day. Next it is on to the BMW Performance Center for the autocross. |
Sorry, it's been tough to keep up. But, I will say this....
DAYTONA IS FREAKING AWESOME!!! |
Living the dream.......Congrats guys. Keep up the great work!!
