Gordon Rojewski's 1967 Camaro w/ Laguna Gray RAD 10 FORMULA 43 Wheels

The FORMULA 43 Team had a great time this last Saturday at Mark Stielow's annual car party and saw many impressive cars. One that obviously stood out to us is, Gordon Rojewski's 1967 Pro-Touring Camaro that is in a roller state and soon to be completed.

Gordon's Camaro features a fresh set of the RAD 10 wheels with our Laguna Gray centers, polished and clear coated outer rims and black inner rims.

Wheel/Tire Fitment:

Front: 10.0X18, 275/35-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 (fender is pulled out about a ¼” and inner fender lip rolled)

Rear: 12.0X19, 325/30-19 Goodyear Eagle F1 (inner fender lip is rolled)

This is the same tire and wheel fitment as Stielow's Red Devil and Mayhem Camaro's.

The Camaro also has the complete Detroit Speed suspension package front and rear, mini tubs, a 700HP Thomson Automotive LS7 naturally aspirated, Tremec 6-speed and a full set of monster Brembo brakes.

I believe Gordon will not paint the car for a few years and leave the original Marina, patina paint on it as the car had little rust. Metal work was done by Sled Alley.

***Gordon, we need a build thread from you!

I saw those pics in Marks thread. What a cool car, the wheels really stand out! I'd be inclined to leave the paint as-is, would make the ultimate driver/track car.

fleetus macmullitz 05-20-2013 11:14 AM

Nice understated look with the wheels plus adding just a little shine.

I completely agree, go with the pro patina touring theme.

I agree with everyone else here. Leave it as is and beat the snot out of it.
Nice wheels!

Ron in SoCal 05-20-2013 06:56 PM

Umm...19" tire on an 18" wheel? Did I read that worng?

Vortech404 05-20-2013 07:27 PM

I caught that too. Its probably a 18" tire.

Do you know the backspace on the wheels?

Thanks
John

formula88 05-20-2013 07:51 PM

Thanks guys! The plan is to paint the engine compartment and underbody and leave the patina alone. Something different and as Jody mentioned, will make for a great driver/track car. Special thanks to Travis at Formula43 for ideas on the wheel style and color. I'm fortunate to live only a few miles from their shop so it's very cool to see how they machine and build their wheels.

The photo below is from the day I received it from El Paso. A nice, dry, (basically) rust free old Camaro :)

Wow what an awesome car, we really need a build thread?? Oh and only 700hp N/A that's all

Formula43 Wheel 05-21-2013 08:42 AM

Oops, typo, yes 19" rear.

Front = 10.0X18 6.25" backspacing.

The wheel/tire package is the same is Mayhem.

:thankyou:

*Gordon, thanks for your for your support! We look forward to seeing the finished Camaro soon!

I like it Gordon!

The surprise/wow factor of walking up to that car in the pits or at an event will be off the charts. Focusing your resources on the engine compartment, underbody, trunk, and interior with historic paint and killer drivetrain and suspension will really spin people. While paint adds to a car's look, it limits most owners desire to use them...........properly.

The color of the valve covers looks the same as the wheel centers...how did that happen????????????????? :)

coolwelder62 05-21-2013 09:27 AM

I am diggin this build. paint is perfect.I would love to use some formula 43 wheels on my NEXT build.

syborg tt 05-21-2013 02:55 PM

Gordon,

I have had many dreams of finding a perfectly patina'd Camaro and this is it.

You sir have built my Dream Car.

I hope you never change the paint and please if you ever decide to sell it please think of me.

love that wheel stance

JohnC 05-24-2013 10:30 AM

Congratulations, Gordon. The car really looks killer:thumbsup:

It's amazing what the right wheels will do, also. I love that wheel..

Will it make Motor State or any other events later this year since no paint?

Doesn't hurt to ask..:D

What a cool survivor! I agree - leave the body as is. I wouldn't change mine if it were that nice!

Formula43 Wheel 12-22-2013 10:43 AM

Gordon plans on running it in the Hot Rod Power Tour next year. I believe the latest update is that it needs electrical and plumbing and she'll be ready to go! Can't wait to see if on the track next summer.

syborg tt 12-22-2013 11:14 AM

That's great news as I would love to see this car in person

redefined 12-22-2013 03:21 PM

They look good!

Sorry if I missed it somewhere in the post but do you have the weights on the wheels?

ChuckDriver 05-22-2014 08:18 PM

Wow, I love this car!!

ChassisPro 05-23-2014 08:01 AM

Gordon, if you see this post what front accessory drive kit are you using?

formula88 05-23-2014 08:16 PM

It's a Vintage Air Front Runner for a LS7

Thanks Gordon, I thought so but wasn't sure. I'm not planning on running AC and I don't think Vintage Air makes a non AC system. Looks great though.

I finally got to see this car in person and it's simple incredible. Instead of posting the pics here they are in the 2015 Power Tour thread for all of you guys that want to see more of this car.

Please do!!! I absolutely love that car. I can't say it enough, the patina is so nice. Its not for everyone, but I'm so glad Gordon preserved it. Personally, my favorite color for patina is a light blue and its marina blue for the win! I have spent countless hours searching for something liike that.
