some years later

I was 18 or 19 when we took the first pics @ the top of Vanalden I'm 52 now.

At that time I owned the silver 69 RS.. a year later I bought the brown 68 Z/28.. then 8-10 years later.. I bought the black 68 Z/28 which had green w/ white stripes by then. I had a strange feeling of deja vu, so I did a back ground check and it was the same car..

Both Z's had 302's and the 69 had a real 70 1/2 LT1. I put a tunnel ram with dual quads 4.56's and yes I blew it up

Coz the green one is the black one years later (If you missed that) Hard to say which one Coz, each car has so many different memories. BUT, If I had to choose it would be the brown one. That was a fun fun car. It was repainted the same color brown and had Centerlines with T/A radials when I had it. The Mo eng was replaced with a DZ with the second stage solid cam, ported heads and OEM intake with a 750 carb, 4.56's, rock crusher trans, hounds tooth int. My G/F @ the time learned to drive in it.. I raced the hell outa that car then traded it for a built 77 Celica, then bought it back years later but it had a 350 by then..wasn't the same car. I sold it and think I got an 69 SS 350 El Camino

I have some later pics of the brown one, when I find them I'll post

intocarss 05-25-2013 07:51 PM

Just for giggles here is us getting ready for the photo shoot The brown Z lived just to the left of the black one (facing picture) You can see the party truck, my V8 Vega and Camaro. My family home was the "hang out" My pops loved it :hairpullout:

We lived up to this

So I think I'm lost with the pictures? The three Camaros are all yours? Which one was the same car but painted a different color? :headspin:

Sieg 05-25-2013 08:38 PM

Rick, I owned all 3 at different times in my life after the silver one. The black one was painted green when I got it sold it and got a gold and black stripe 69 Z/28 and sold that so i could buy a Pro street 67 Camaro. That 67 pro street was also black with blue stripes like the 68 Z in the old pics..Sold that and got a Pro Street vega..and it don't end there DAMN I AM NUTZ

It was over cast here today BTW we used to skate board down that street. And to and to the left (facing pics) we had a MX track on the empty lots just when they started building those homes. i'm getting all kinds of memories back here The top of that street ended a few yards up the hill which led to dirt mullholnd another riding place plus we all used to park up there and party!

GregWeld 05-25-2013 09:49 PM

Great memories! Thanks for sharing them. Like you - I've owned about a half a zillion cars -- they all have good memories.

CarlC 05-25-2013 09:59 PM

Wow, memories is right. I used to ride bikes with my junior high school buds at top of Tampa. Most all of them went to Cleveland HS. I went to Kennedy in Granada Hills.

Your '68 Z makes me want to kick myself in the you-know-where. I could have bought a 80K mile unmolested '68Z in 1994 for $8k. I thought it was too much money!

NOPANTS68 05-25-2013 10:23 PM

Man these pics are amazing. I really enjoyed that. Thanks

intocarss 05-25-2013 10:59 PM

Carl.. We used to sit up on Dirt Mulholand and morse code with people that were on top of Tampa land using KC day lighters..Or we'd talk via CB radios and flash our KC's to see who we were talking to

glassman 05-26-2013 09:44 AM

Dam good pics!! Thanx for sharing.

I have a good friend, whos 55 now, had a 67 Z28 and a 68 Z28, and i believe the 67 there were something like 900 built. His 68 turned high tens, mid/late 70's, probably in Fremont, up here in the Bay..

So where is that down there, my son lives in Glendora and is moving to LaHabra (school), are those pics like north of Hollywood?

http://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/...ti/image-3.jpg

Only one i have left, from 84

intocarss 05-26-2013 11:17 AM

Love the color combo on that 2nd gen, I am about 40 - 50 miles west of Glendora, my pics were taken in Tarzana 91356

If you had my resources --- you'd move to Sun Valley and trade your S63 AMG in on a F-150 pick up truck.

Back to the bitchin' Camaro memories!

waynieZ 05-26-2013 10:43 PM

Sweet pictures. The first Z/28 I ever saw was a 67 .There was a lumber yard near my house and the owner was a car guy. It was Green with white stripes like yours. I was only 12 when he had it brand new. He may be one reason I'm spending so much money now !

Pops has a old MB that he can't drive anymore, so I went up to do the annual start and drive around the block for him. Here's pops and his 1950's MB

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3/...ps81348f3b.jpg

I took the Camaro, he said he could hear me coming a mile away and it shook the house just like old times & he told me to watch for the "cops" lolol.. He liked the Camaro

I stopped by my orig family home, Pops bought it new in 1964 then sold it in the 80's (it isn't anything like it used to look) And yup i pulled it in the driveway,, hasn't been a Camaro there in many many years. But the oil stains on the driveway are still there :peepwall:

Thanks for sharing a bit of insight of your past Jer. Makes me think back on some good ole memories of back in the day.
My first thoughts were of my brother and I working till midnight putting together a motor on a hopped up Datsun p/u. We'd just finished up putting in the SSS head, cam, and side draft weber but the stores were all closed and we needed a throtle cable. We ended up putting my brother in the engine comprtment to work the throttle and we drove it around the block this way.

Very cool story tracky. One time my friend broke a throttle cable on Van Nuys Blvd. So we had to run wire from the carb and in through the drivers window so we could get home. He steered and pulled the wire & I shifted the car (4sp) The things we did in our younger years
