Rad Rides 37 Ford Stolen

Some of you may already know this, but the 37 that Rad Rides built & debuted this past year at SEMA was stolen. Keep a look out for this car. I read stuff like this & it just pisses me off to no end.

Below is the link I found on www.competitionplus.com

A Lowdown Shame; Eaton SEMA car stolen, $5,000 reward offered

(4-12-2006) - Eaton is joining in the worldwide search for “Chocolate Thunder” the $450,000 custom convertible built by Rad Rides that was displayed at the Eaton booth during this year’s SEMA show and won the prestigious Mother's Shine Award. Rad Rides is offering a $5,000 reward for tips that lead to the return of the classic car and arrest and conviction of whoever took it.

The beauty, a 1937 Ford convertible with an Eaton supercharger, limited slip differential and Aeroquip hoses, was stolen around 6 a.m., April 6, from a parking lot in Brockville, Ontario, Canada along with its support trailer and Ford pick up tow vehicle.

Police have no leads and there are fears that the vehicle is headed out of North America and destined to be sold on the black market. It was one of three classic vehicles stolen that week in Brockville.

Rad Rides visionary Troy Trepanier said his team has sunk more than 8,500 hours into building the custom vehicle for its private owner who hasn't even had a chance to drive the vehicle yet. They vehicle was touring car shows throughout North America and was being transported in a 32’ trailer sponsored by Eaton.

Please contact Rad Rides @ (815) 468-2590 with any information.

Hope they find it.. if not I will try and get it as the lead item for the August Speed Reading (that ships in June)..

This stuff makes me sad..

Datsbad 04-12-2006 06:06 PM

what would anyone possibly do with it ? someone would surely recognize it ?

ad , news i hope they find it and torture the person who stole it !

MaxHarvard 04-12-2006 06:26 PM

Oh man, thats terrible. i hope they find it in one piece! :(

DCreations 04-12-2006 07:31 PM

Most high end cars like that go to other countries and never seen again. I wonder if they jacked the driver of the trailer after the show on a road or something? Can't have anything nice these days anymore. Really a sad day :(

customcam 04-12-2006 07:41 PM

that would stand out like dogs B***s anywere i cant beleive he would leave that out of his sight i hell wouldnt especially at 450k
id do more than torture him :beathorse

zbugger 04-12-2006 07:44 PM

Why do I think they'll find the trailer and tow vehicle empty somewhere? That really sucks. It's kinda a good reason to be glad my car doesn't run. Almost.

lil427z 04-12-2006 08:04 PM

talked to moose he told me about the 37 .the car is a 10 .
hope they get it back .
rick k :(

Sales@Dutchboys 04-12-2006 08:14 PM

promax/vennom#16 04-12-2006 09:15 PM

I'm with you. We don't need A-holes like that on this planet.

The minute the thief tries to sell it or show it, everyone's gonna know what it is....what the hell is thinking? Obviously, he's a freakin genius!

ProdigyCustoms 04-13-2006 09:30 AM

The thing that scared me is it was not a isolated incident, they stole 2 other cars that weekend. Exactly why I am arranging security for Power Tour.

pist0lpete 04-13-2006 10:54 AM

Thats crazy. My first thought is they didn't even know what they were stealing and just stole a truck and a trailer and figured it would have a nice car in it. After reading about the other cars that were stolen there is no doubt that these guys knew what they were doing. Scary stuff for those of us who have thrown thousands of hours (and $$'s) into our cars.

J2SpeedandCustom 04-13-2006 11:22 AM

This SUCKS! I hope they get it back.

I heard they were checking out of the hotel and had the truck and trailer hooked up ready to leave. Went out to leave and it was GONE!

Rob07002 04-13-2006 11:48 AM

The fact that 2 others custom cars were stolen indicates an organized group with a shopping list. The 37 was most likely targeted, and perhaps an inside job...Its more then likely its already out of the country...

todd 04-13-2006 11:05 PM

Maybe Foose is "overhaulin" it.

It's ridiculous how easy our cars can be taken. You can open the hood from the outside for crying out loud!!

Be careful on PT and any other time. Be careful about showing your house etc on the web with cars there, crooks are all over the boards. This problem will get worse, unfortunately.

Everybody needs to take precautions, like having Lojack on the car, trailer, tow vehicle. Taking the whole rig is probably the easiest way to get high dollar cars like that. I hope they get in back. There have been alot of cars taken from Orlando area in the last few months. One nice drag car was stolen and recovered minus all the drivetrain and electronics. It sucks to have your car screwed with like that.

96z28ss 04-14-2006 01:30 PM

How do you insure a vehicle like that?

How do the vehicles get to other countries? Dosn't the car have to go thru customs?

Speedster 04-14-2006 02:02 PM

There's a company that makes GPS locators that operate at multiple frequencies. If you installed one of those it would be a last line defense, but if the group stealing these was really advanced they may even have frequency sweepers.

Have something like this stolen, just sucks...

the fact the car was already out of the US makes it that much easier to export. as far as customs goes, chances are that where ever the car would be headed, wont have the strictest of rules like the US, and even if it did get found, chances are that whoever is in charge is probably on somebodies payroll anyway.

yeah, it sux, just goes to show that no matter how hard you "try" to have something nice.....some lowlife $hitbag will do whatever it takes to get it from you.

DCreations 04-14-2006 04:51 PM

I loved this car too!! I was hoping to see a bunch of pics :( Hopefully who ever took the car gets Aids and dies

lil427z 04-14-2006 06:54 PM

It is amazing how many people figure their custom cars don't need an alarm in them cause they never drive them.....................same goes for their truck and trailer..................

We have a pretty crazy setup that we install in these type of situations that protects the truck, trailer and contents................lots of people have us protect their possesions but some people are stupid..............

We just did a full wiring job on a 34 Ford and he spent over 80 on the car (and it still isn't done) and he couldn't be bother to spend $500 to have the alarm incorporated with this wiring harness.................

Nuts.........

ProdigyCustoms 04-14-2006 09:21 PM

We sell the Viper GPS systems, the GPS will call you if the car moves 150 yards, even if it is on a roll back

You are right but i dont understand at someone would leave 500 000 dollars show piece unguarded in an trailer with "easytotake" pickup!

Diognes56 04-15-2006 05:57 PM

OMG!!! I hope they get it back :( .

I keep reading this thread and hoping the news will change, sad that it hasn't. This kinda news ticks me off so bad. I just hope they find it.

syborg tt 04-17-2006 11:00 PM

I talked to Jack about it last week and i was in shock when he told me what happened.

this is the Tire Delator gizmo that i just ordered for my truck and trailer.

http://www.libizonline.com/tiredefla...sandawards.htm

it's something that no one notices and when they pull away it deflates all of the tires on the truck and trailer.

I have a couple other security features planned for my project.

DCreations 04-18-2006 12:15 AM

With something like this, does the owner get all his money back?

jigga99 04-18-2006 01:08 PM

this is unreal what im reading! my friend and his dad went from bc canada to Ontario canada, to a dodge viper show they pulled there 94 rt/10 in a enclosed trailer all the way there went and checked in and in the morning the dually and trailer and viper were gone! they later found the truck in the us but no car or trailer! this was a few years back but they were told it happens at every get to gether. i guess is its really easy to just steal everything in stead of just the car! they said it was orginized by the biker gangs but theres no evidence to prove that.

Depends on the insurance. I learned long ago to insure all of my projects as i build them. I have a friend that was restoring a old t-bird and the shop burned to the ground. The insurance company only gave him the purchase price of the car not the $100k he had spent on the NOS restoration.

If you insure as you go like i do you need to submit copie's of the receipt and invoices you receive for labor to your insurance company. The company that i work with is pretty good as they allow me to ammend the policy evey 4 months (3x year). Currently my project is insured for $100k with a check that would be written to me in the event of a total loss.

It's worth the couple hundred dollars a year that i spend on the policy as you never know anymore.
