1970 Camaro SS/RS "dis-traction"
Hey guys, been on here for a little over a year. I've had the car on the road since April of '11 and have had it since '91. Got it from a friend as it was totaled. I use to have a 71' RS in the mid eighties and have missed it ever since. Well this one has seen paint jail, a business startup, three kids (and college funds),,,,etc.etc, nuff excuses...lets get this thing slideways....

Plenty of work to do....but its a start... Mike |
Cool Mike, can wait to follow along.

Well she fires and runs.
Bugs, GTO computer was for an Auto, my T56 isnt agreeing with the computer, six reprograms with HP Tuners and its getting closer. But my mechanic Josh is on vacation this week so the bugs will have to wait, although she is very drivable. Me likey. The clutch is still "not blead" enough imo, two GM techs have said sometimes ya just gotta drive em for one to two weeks to settle everything in. I would have liked to install the Tick performance adjustable clutch master....so well see next week. Any opinions on this matter? Thanx, Mike |
Nice Mike, but with out the video it didn't happen!!! :poke: :welcome3: :D

What version of the LS do you have? The car looks like it's a great driver! What coilover setups are you considering? |
Its an LS1 with an 85mm intake and long tubes....and heads getting built and a cam in the works. The heads are getting done in Fremont by Angie i believe of Daves engine and machine, and is spec'n a custom grind from comp. but thats phase 2. Right now i am at about 410 at the crank and i just need to learn how to "drive" .
can i post a vid without having a youtube acct? |
very nice looking car Mr. Glassman

YouTube accounts are free........you can easily upload video's from you phone with their ap once you have an account which is quick to setup. You've got enough motor to get a big ticket! Too much more equals jail time. :D |

its getting closer, but running into computer gremlins. Redid the computer, swapped out the GTO computer for an 01 F body computer, now running into fuel issues. May be the fuel pump in the new Spectre tank, may.....to be continued.

unhook the line that goes into the slave and push on the pedal lightly by HAND. pretty sure if you do it by foot, your going to blow the line up. When i was bench bleeding like normal i left the plunger inside the quick disconnect closed and slightly pressed the rod and watched all my air bubbles go straight up the reservoir |
thanks scott, i will try that.
still cant figure out the "fuel" shut off issues, have a thread going on in high tech retrofits, but still havent found the problem. We're thinking it may be weak pump in the tank, new, but weak. Thats my gut.... mikee |
Well, went on the Goodguys trip to Texas on is maiden road trip, 2nd time on the freeway on its way too texas. Had a great time. Car ran great, had no fuel issues at 6000'. Car had a great run, steering issues still to be sorted and still can't fill the tank to full (venting or baffling issues) and small driveline shimmy (probably the shaft) and no a/c sucked in Arizona
Knocked down 24.89 mpg and went 2085 miles. LS is the waaaay to go. 80 mph, 2000 rpm, with 3:73's and 17"rims. Pics to follow when I get home, Chassis and rear next for sure. Mike |
|
I never did get to check out your car unfortunately... I walked over to the staging area where some of the cars from the Tour were, but yours wasn't there...
Good to meet you this weekend, and hope the car gets back home safely... You'll get the issues sorted out I'm sure! |
Mike,
Congrats on the successful trip....that's a bunch of miles. |
