Project quick fix..:)

Starting this thread about doing a mini-restore/ detail on the '72 Trans AM I just picked up. It was a original paint car with all original panels that had been basically sanded and sprayed. The car looked great but when I got it up on the lift, I could see it had a lot of clear sprayed on it and it had a lot of runs that someone tried to wet sand out. On a white car, it's not as bad and you couldn't see it in the sun. This car is way to rare and too nice not to have a really nice paint done. I took it over to Eric on Monday, he started to pull it apart. My plans are to detail the engine compartment, a/c box and undercarriage. We are installing DSE rear leafs, QA1 front coilovers, Doug's headers and Year One wheels. I'm hoping to have it all done in about 3 weeks..:) I'll keep you guys updated..

Monday morning..

I was able to take a quick look at the car tonight at the shop. Looks like a solid one you found there, and will make a nice addition to the stable. :)

I wanted one just like this in highschool, more than anything. Yes, even that thing that is always on a teenage boy's mind...

This car is turning out gorgeous! Eric is putting the finishing touches on it now, so I'm sure SW will have some great pictures for everyone soon... They've made quick work of it, and while I'm not normally a fan of white cars, I would definitely own this one!

Thanks Brian, here are a few pics and some of the changes Eric did..
So it's been a little over a month since we took the '72 apart. I had the entire car repainted. We ended up taking all the panels off, I had all the inside of the fenders, hood, nose ect. painted hot rod black. I wanted to keep the '72 mostly original but with a few minor changes. I added QA1 coilovers, DSE 3" lowering springs, 17" Honeycomb wheels, Doug's headers, complete new 134 A/C system from Old Air, new fuel tank, upgraded power window motors and adding a factory tilt wheel. I also removed the deluxe trim around the top of hood, doors, drip rails and fenders, I like the standard trim:) Tomorrow, I am trailering it over to my clear bra guy so I can get the lower rockers, lower rear spoilers and door edges done. He is also going to install the stripe kit. Here are a few pics along the way.
