Pro touring-Nascar themed Falcon
I just picked this up from a good friend. It's a Falcon sprint with a Bob Lambeck built 342 Ford. Full forged rotating with Ross pistons, big roller, massaged Victor Jr heads. Rockland Standard T-56 and a complete custom built Scheidecker suspension, coil overs all the way around, wishbone rear suspension with a Nascar "quick change" rear end and 345 Hoosiers. This is my first Ford, and I gotta say this thing is kick in the ass. Revs like there's no tomorrow, handles like a slot car and is unique, more thumbs up than any other car I've had. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

Ok Bill that's just bad azz!!! :king:
|
very cool.
|
I can see why you bought it, that's cool..........enjoy it!
|
That thing is bad ass. Let's see some engine pics. :bigun2:
And some video would be nice. Yes please. :D |
Here's a quick engine shot. I am open to criticism, what do you guys think of the wing in the back???? I personally hated it at first, but it's growing on me. Is it too much? Too "fast and furious?"

Motor looks appropriate to the package. The wing while radical on this body from a profile view, is probably functional for track usage and compliments what you see under the car from a rear view. Do the mounts simply unbolt? If so problem solved. I don't mind the look of the wing based on the one photo.
|
Need more wing pics.
|
Congrats Bill, I've seen that car somewhere. BTW who's this guy Lambeck??? ;)

JMOHO, I'd do a spoiler like what Dave (flash68) is doing on his Camaro. Either way, that car is Bad Ass!! Enjoy it and NO speeding!! ;)
|
I really like this car as for the wing. It looks like an after thought and for little money I think you could come up with something a little better.
|
Thanks for the compliments and opinions...Jerry, I can't promise I won't speed a little, hopefully no speeding tickets :rules:
|
nice, i think i'd loose the wing thou

OK, the wing doesn't look right in that last pic. If it was a lower profile along these lines http://aprperformance.com/images/zoo...e/DSC01937.JPG, maybe.
Retrofitting a factory Ford GT spoiler of some type might have potential........ |

You could always have some different style wings photoshopped. |

The motors look really nice is there. As for the wing, well when I read that you had a "wing" I had to go back to look :D I didn't even see it the first time around. Maybe a little out of place but just looks more racey?? Lets see it from another angle?
|
If the wing was a little lower and pushed back to the edge of the trunk...
Either way, that car is total badass and can easily back up the wing. Definitely no poser. Jeff- |
Very cool, thanks for the inspriation. It is great to see Falcons getting some love.
Needs a front splitter, I found the 70 Boss Mustang Repos fit very well. http://imageshack.us/scaled/thumb/71...ownload355.jpg http://imageshack.us/scaled/thumb/13...ownload354.jpg http://imageshack.us/scaled/thumb/71...ownload353.jpg Agree on the wing, it needs something but not a fan of the "high profile" current look. |
The wing looks all wrong. It just doesnt fit the dimensions of the car. 1) It looks like it is too narrow for the car and 2) is the wing installed upside down and facing backwards? Theres just something off about it.
Killer car though. Cant wait to see some video of this thing. |

Here is a link to the front spoiler I picked up. Great price, fast shipping and the quality was very nice.

Did you have to modify it a lot to make it work?

I figured for $65 it was worth the risk and even if I screwed one up on the test fit, once I had it perfected I could buy another. Truthfully I am supprised how easily I was able to mount it up. It also fits the Falcon width perfect because (fun fact for the day) the Falcon front ends were wider than the 65 Mustangs and closer in width to the 70. |
Thanks, sounds like I can make it work. Funny that you say my question was "loaded".......my friends always accuse me of posing loaded questions...lol.
|
Really cool car, a older "NASCAR type" decklid wing would probably look a bit more historical correct, also other steering Wheel.
But it is a really cool car anyway. :) It probably is fast too! I love classic race car look. |
Going to cut the riser down and see how it looks mounted about 3 inches lower and little a little further back. I figured I have nothing to lose. If it still doesn't look right then it's getting $hit canned.

Maybe make the test mounts out of 1/4" plywood or? instead of modifying the original ones thus killing resale?
Do you know who makes that wing? The tuner crowd might pay good money for it. Those APR wings are all priced over $1,100. |
