Best way to wash your car is to not wash your car. :lol:

Here's my system:

1) Use California Car Duster frequently to remove dust.
2) Use Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer regularly to clean.
3) Clay car to remove embedded particles.
4) Apply Mothers California Gold Pre-wax cleaner to remove all previous wax.
5) Apply one or two layers Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0 sealant (yes it's a sealant)
6) Apply two thin coats Mothers California Gold pure Carnauba Wax.

Repeat 1 & 2 several times a week. It only takes about 15min.

Repeat 3 thru 6 about every three months.

Never need to water wash the car using the above process. Unless you get caught in a rain storm. :whistling:

Yes, but when its your Daily Driver and in Alabama.......Rain is going to happen :(

That only works in Arizona. Not something you could do here in Illinois.

I drove the Camaro last week and it had actual mud on the side of the car and I have no clue where it came from.

Plus I no longer park my cars if it's going to rain. I bought or built them to drive. I really don't want the next guy enjoying my car like I should have.

I really like mothers products but I dont dig Maguirs. Its a little too thick to apply and take off. Mothers is very smooth and much easier to use. I use to use this stuff called BC2. Worked great. I cant remember who makes it tho.

I also like Mothers Product and my last name is McGuire

I've been using some of Adam's products lately and have experienced favorable results.

As for actually washing cars I switched to using good brushes vs. a wash mitt 10+ years ago and won't go back.

Sieg knows. I love Adams products but have started using Chemical Guys stuff as well.

One thing I agree with him on is the use of brushes as opposed to mitts. The reasoning being rinse-ability. The mitts tend to hold the junk in them - especially in the fine wool type.

One thing you didnt mention in your post that I really believe everyone should do is use the 2 bucket method. You'll have one bucket with soap water and another for rinse water. So hose the car down, wash a section, rinse in the rinse bucket, dip in wash bucket, repeat.......

Also I highly recommend grit guards in the bottom of the buckets to keep from dipping your brush back into the sand you just rinsed off it. Buckets and the guards are cheap - no reason to not have 2 of them.

To go one step further - purchase yourself a foam cannon. You put a bit of soap in the cannon, attach cannon to power washer, blast a thick foam over the whole car. This will rinse away most of the contaminants and leave your car foamy and make it that much easy to wash with your brush.

Its very easy to get carried away with blowing your wad on detailing junk :G-Dub:
But if you have a zillion dollar paint job then you should by all means have a nice selection of protectants to get your paint nice.

BINGO! Well said Barrrf. There is a whole correct method to washing your car. An excellent video(s) on youtube by this dude called junkman. Guy is awesome and very detailed in his explanations.
And,.....I'm one of "those" that spends a good amount of money on detail/polish/making the vehicle look nice products! It gets costly indeed. lol :G-Dub:

Don't forget the higher quality the detail products, the more you save your paint from swirls and scratches.
Microfiber towels and drying towels from Sonus work great!

I use a hose foamer as well, love it. Save the quick detail spray that comes with the clay kit for the quick detail, use the hose foamer for the clay bar process, too. Goes fast. Here's a vid from a few years ago.

Which products of the Mothers line do you use?

Sieg these brushes you mentioned do you have a certain one you can recommend. This is new to me and willing to try it. I've always just used a mitt.

The Mothers product line is available through AMSOIL how much are you guys paying i'll see if the pricing is better if interested.
