Pikes Peak 2013 - Red Bull coverage

Just came across this link:http://www.redbull.com/en/motorsport...nal-hill-climb

I'm not sure of the depth of coverage but Loeb's run in the Peugeot is guaranteed.

They have said they will provide flag to flag coverage which will consume all of the day if they truly do that. If you want to tune in to speciifcs classes, you might check the Pikes Peak Hillclimb web site to see around what time you should tune in; http://www.ppihc.com/

Three days of practice are on the books for this years race and two cars are already toast.

Sebastien Loeb is leading the times in practice so far; http://www.autoblog.com/2013/06/25/2...ractice-day-1/

Practice each day consists of running 3-5 miles sections starting at the bottom and working their way up so no one has run the entire course in their car this year. The asphalt is a big change and I expect we'll see new records in ever class. You can achieve higher grip on it, but it has also narrowed the racing surface considerably. Any attempt to drop a tire off the tarmac to initiate and hold a turn is going to result in a trip off the road.

Great find!

There's some unusual entries in PP this year. These guys have been on OLoA for several years and are very fast.

Honda and Hyundia drug out a whole menagerie of cars this year. They are all in for the asphalt assault. The unlimited and time attack classes are where most of these guys are headed. The van listed above is in the exhibition class.

Sed came and won. Set the new record 8.13 and chance. Rhys Millen drove his new record 9.02 ,mind blowing difference.

The King of the Peak

Just watched an interview whre he says that car has around 900Hp and 900Kg,

the reporter ask'd that is it difficult to remember al 156 turns, Sed looked at him litle funny and say: No!

and that he dont drive even near to he's limit, just wanted to break old record...

ou man that thing sounded wicked, time that he stays on one gear is just coupple seconds. Must be fast machine.

Viva la France!

I thought he'd handle that hill, especially now that's it's all tarmac.
Personally I preferred the challenge of tarmac lower and dirt upper.

was this televised? I keep missing these!! ARRRGgGGg

SuperB70 06-30-2013 10:34 PM

I dont know was it on tv but I watched at live.redbulltv

hp2 07-01-2013 09:53 AM

It was broadcast on the internet, not regular tv, and was not covered flag to flag like I originally thought.

Rain and snow did cause some delays during the day and I believe the red bull broadcast stopped right after the unlimited class, but I wasn't able to watch it all.

So smooth it's almost boring.......... http://www.redbull.com/en/motorsport...es-peak-record

If there was no stop watch I would think its being shown in fast forward.

There is cool article in Racecar Engineering last month breaking down the car he ran for the record. Awesome piece. With 875Hp he sure dips into that power ever so slightly. But it sure has a ton of forward bite off the turns.

That car is a local build here - LoveFab. Check them out on Facebook if you have access. Cody is a good guy and great with foreign engines. He said this will be his last year - that was before the crash.
