Keep in mind that is my first complete restoration and its my first muscle car Ps sorry for my english, im french So this is how I imaginate it. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps307e6556.jpg |
Nice rendering Streetbird and welcome!! What are your plans for the car? Such as motor, trans, wheels, brakes, etc? Post pics of the car when you can. :welcome3:

Looks good to me! Welcome to the site.
|
Welcome! Looks like you're off to a good start. Don't know how long you have been on this site lurking but if you have not seen it, perhaps this will give you some inspiration.
Probably the baddest 1969 firebird ever built! https://lateral-g.net/forums/show...ghlight=encore |

It looks like you've jumped right in. What about the drivetrain? Are you keeping the Poncho power? 4,5 or 6 speed or auto? |
Take it easy on him Rob. He's a :newbie: . Break him in slowly now. LOL!!

2.0 jig done
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps7ef371a4.jpg I little bit of precision (fisher measurements 1/8 tolerance) I got less than 1/16 http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps723ab598.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps0be9b4b9.jpg Start to assemble the floor but no more gas for the welder so thats it for this week http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps8746cf98.jpg |
Nice project, and nice job on the jig.

Nice work on getting the jig precise. Good luck with getting the car back together!
|
Floor is now assembled, not welded yet because I want more body panel to verify alignement. Bolted with metal screw because the cleco cant hold the stress of the differents arch of the trunk floor and frame rail(taiwan quality).
I will order structure panel next week, thank for support. |
Nice work. Hey you may think of a bigger gas bottle. That bottle won't last for this size job.
|
Cool project and it looks like you're off to a great start! Keep the momentum going and you'll be driving it very soon
|
|
Looking good, really love the Jig! I want one...
|
Wow! Is there any panel from the original car that you'll reuse?
|
yea no kidding.....i dont think you even needed to buy a car in the first place
|
Why buy a car, when you can make one from scratch yourself! :D He..He.. Really cool! :)
|
I will probably not reuse any part of the car but I need a car to take some measurements and to troubleshoot when something dont fit.
|
Make some progress today.
Little mockup jig for the cowl panel to structure http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps6a0fad77.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...psc191f130.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...psa3f8a797.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps374f61d0.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps3fcc571a.jpg Thx to follow my built:thankyou: |
And you say its your first time messing with cars????!!!!!!!!
Jee... My first tought was, "you know...you could easily have had that 69 Camaro finally", since you we're going to buld it from scratch lol!! And eh.....at that, its not even too late you know! No but....seriously, i'm completely knocked out! From the beginning, reading your tread, i wasnt expecting anything close to this..at all!!! I mean, the original car looked kinda solid too so i got the impression you were going to build it.... WRONG!!!! Lol!!!! I was also very glad to find out that we're very close neighbours! I dont know too many guys that share the same level of passion for that kind of work, let alone close to me and i dont even mention as much as i do so its pretty cool, hope we get to meet each other sometime. Hey, beeing so close, next time you run out of gas or just need a hand, let me know, i'd gladly help out! (... As it'd get me to seeing that beast in person lol!!!) And im only like 10 minutes from you sooooo.... Sometimes we need another set of hands... Post some more when you progress...i'm watching this one come alive! Congrats on jumping into this with both feet! It takes some serious courage to do what you are doing, times 100 in a situation where you have no experience!!! Woohoooo!!!!!:wow: Lead. |

The firewall fit like s*** but after hammering I was able to have reasonable gap.
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps426ba0c4.jpg Test fitting the tulip panel. Not too bad but I had to cut and do some hammer and dolly work to have if fit nice. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...pscda326da.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps5a707374.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps47b0cb32.jpg Driver side need more work http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps8a2b8733.jpg Here is the wrong spot on the firewall http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps762010af.jpg Better gap now http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps0edcc15b.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...pseb41e967.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps60b4f557.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps644f191b.jpg |

Receive right quarter, top, rear panel.
Time to weld all the car very soon http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...psd3575bb4.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...psff406a63.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps2421bbd9.jpg |
Man....
Looking carefully at your pics, it makes me think twice about the way i should attack my 67. It needs a full floor and i was going to just patch the rear section but was also thinking about replacing the rear floor with a one piece unit as its almost easier, but the way i was thinking was to do one at a time to keep the structure straight and just remove and replace one piece at a time like i always do.... But it almost looks easier and FASTER. To just cut the whole ass end out (full 1/4 s, cabin floor, rear floor, the top, as i need a top panel too and the tail section) and just build a new one!!! You deal with all new steel, just need to fit them and voila!!! Well....thats what you make it look like anyway!!! Vince, i like your style... An Evil Race Twin.... Thats my style!!!!! Are you workin on the car this week end StreetBird? :popcorn2: Lead. |
to cold to work on the car -30celcius, I heat the garage with a 4800 and I use the same plug to run the compressor and the welder, this summer I will change the electrical panel to an appropriate one.
