Anyone remember Pro Street?

Yes I know this is a Pro Touring forum, but we all came from somewhere, right?

Here is where I came from...

Scot Payton and Michael Julian from Route 2 Media...thanks for making me look not bad!

strtcar 07-19-2013 09:55 AM

Lots of awesome rides in that video. The video itself was shot really well too. Pro Street definitely isn't my style, but they are bad ass cars for sure! Nothing like a massive engine sticking through the hood with some huge slicks in the back. Always makes you stop and look.

ccracin 07-19-2013 10:08 AM

That's awesome stuff Bret! The Stang looks as good now as it did back then. I got to see Scott and the Whiz in Columbus too. I don't care who you are, you liked Pro-Street at some point!

Ketzer 07-19-2013 11:31 AM

I still think a nice, nasty sounding pro-streeter is kick-azz!
Nice job Bret!

My second Pro Street/Track car

Nice interview.

I remember being a freshman in High School wanting a Beretta to Pro Street as my first car. I didnt even comprehend the difference between front wheel drive and RWD at the time. LOL. Still some really cool cars. If I had the funds I'd do a Modern Pro Street as a long haul cruiser.

Bret,
The video is both informational and inspirational. I enjoyed it. As I watched it, I realized that you are an excellent historian who lived it himself, a visionary and obviously a wise business man all rolled into one friendly person.

I was there this year. I walked right by you sitting next to your cars and chose not to strike up a conversation for fear of "bothering" you.

After watching the video, I'm sure I missed an opportunity for a great conversation.

Next time I'll be sure to introduce myself.

My first car, pro street vega I built in the 80's (in case you couldn't tell!) I still have it and it looks exactly the same, I thought about Pro touring it, thought about modernizing a bit but decided to leave as is. I dont know what i'll ever do with it, but I just cant sell it!:confused18:

Very cool video, nice job!

Wissing72 07-20-2013 01:41 AM

I remember in H.S. a co-worker had a pro street 70 chevelle. The first time I saw it I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was definately the "It" thing in the 80's.
Thanks for sharing the video.

No but it's a new combo for us. We tested a couple of weeks ago and I ran 8.06 clicking off at 900'.

I sold this Camaro as a roller and bought that orange Vega.

This artical was with the new owner and his engine. Don't know why he raised the car up.

Yes weve been slowly working on getting our drivetrain (632 Donovan) adapted to it as time permited over the past year or so. It was a sbc B/G car owned by Jerry Jahnsen, were hoping to run A/G with it.
The Vega hasnt been out in a looooong time, at least 10 years probably at Sacramento.
