Just-A-Thought!!!!!!!
Watched Fast-N-Loud tonight. Why on earth would Dalejr hire A$$ Monkey to build a Car,For him & Diet Dew.Surely there is other builder's more fitting to Dew this build.:badidea: :badidea:
|
Yeah I thought the same. I think it is mostly a Mtn Dew and Discovery deal.
|
Marketing and product placement. Dale won't own it or drive it. He has what, two DSE cars now?
|
Why would anyone watch Fast N Loud?
|
Cause the only other thing on was the countdown till the first royal baby poop? Ha.
|
Can you say marketing!!!!! The show is very popular so it makes sense from a marketing stand point. I like it, it's just entertainment plus when you have to spend a couple of weeks in a hotel room at night you either watch TV or go drink at the bar :G-Dub:
|
I like to count how many times Richard touches his hair. 16 times last night! Stop touching it!

I still don't believe they really restore an entire car to 100% perfect in 7-10 days though. But either way this whole episode is definitely marketing. I'm sure Dale Jr himself isn't a huge Diet Dew fan...but he's a fan of money! :G-Dub: |
I watch it (and often fast n quiet through most of it) but it is entertaining and car related... sorta.
This new season is definitely on a downturn for me as they get more popular and mainstream. Now they are doing corporate builds?!? When it was a show about a corner garage doing pimp-and-fluffs and flipping them, it was fun to watch. Jeff- |

It will become just like all the "reality" shows..... They start off "real" and then as it succeeds it becomes all staged and set up.... Corporate sponsors, product placements, celebrity appearances etc etc
The whole shop sure did expand all of a sudden.... Lots of expensive equipment etc.... Likely provided by the TV production company and net work.... |

A majority of the builds on a lot of these shows are all staged and paid for by the network.... The "owner" is just part of the script.
If you keep your eyes in the background, a lot of these builds are still sitting in the shop during filming of episodes months and years later.....they never actually go out to the "owner" GSM took a huge jump in the shop and equipment... That wasn't paid for by flipping cars over 6 months The F40 episode is a perfect example...... No way GSM actually planned and paid for that.... |
The show amuses me. I've accepted that the majority of the cars that come out of the shop are not "finished" cars but built to a point left for the new owners to add their own flair.
Its much better than the Street Outlaws show. Somebody tell me how those guys can have a show but somehow Pro-Touring doesnt. A televised race series would be great. Just follow Goodguys around with a film crew. As a bonus, we'd find out who the a$$hats are that are messing with shocks. |

I'm curious if Miller Lite is a sponsor. If not, they're getting a lot of free air time.

I like the show! I think it's funny and entertaining, do I think they do great work no but they do make some pretty cool rat rods! At least he's probably making money in this industry good for them!!!! As for Dew and Jr. it's a no brainer to have a build done and have it on tv is way cheaper than commercials.

I like it because there is no BS staged negativity. The guys seem to have fun at work and have a great attitude. It's nice to turn on the TV and see something that doesn't focus on how people are a$$holes to each other. They also do some pretty cool work. I know they don't have some high dollar purpose built pro touring cars, but they build some stuff that would be cool to own.
|
Im entertained by the show. No matter how false it is. I think someone already said it but there isnt all the whining and complaining that normally comes along with reality TV.
Plus I like how Richard can spin anything into drinking beer. "Well I cant finish this but I can drink a beer" "I even brought a beer for Aaron, but he doesnt drink so I'll have to drink 2" I mean theyre kind of hack jobs there when you get down to it. They hammered in the firewall on an F40 to clear a brake switch. You just dont do things like that. |
Negativity
Be happy for the guys. A lot of negative emotion. It is a car show which I always prefer and it is TV and it must have good viewership to do all the upgrades. It is a business. Any of us would be happy for the blessing that they, OCC, Pawn Stars..... and other business have received by becoming a TV show. Seem like we are piling on the guys. More car shows are good for car people. :twak:
|
I enjoy it as entertainment. I am not taking any notes on fab from them, but it is in my line up of car shows. I hope they don't get to the point where they hit you over the head with brands and it turns into an infomercial (I understand why companies do it, but it gets really old on shows like Gearz, Powerblock, etc). I feel like the TV folks don't always get it right for car guys, but they may bring in other demographics with the smooth talking and shenanigans. They are after ratings, not a high quality build and obviously they get people to tune in since they have a second season going.
I like when they go on the road and poke around for cars. I would love a show like American Pickers, but with a couple of guys that go look for barn finds. If you have the Velocity channel, Chasing Classic Cars and What's in the Barn are pretty cool shows. Not pro-touring, and usually not even muscle cars, but they find some really cool pieces from transportation history. |
I enjoy the show... The guys are entertaining.... Some of their stuff is a total hack job and some ok..
Whenever it's...." We have to do it in 10 days and turn as much profit as possible", it isn't going to be top notch work It's fun to watch.... But I take everything with a grain of salt about it being "real" |
Fake , staged its TV and well it's better than watching power block -I mean half hour of "armor all products ".
I kind of like it not to much drama yet , it's ok Counting cars is bogus and needs new wardrobe Graveyard cars , terrible acting , the drama is off the chart. Watched episode when they walk the tough streets of what ever town they're in and it was just hilarious , I thought I was watching the TRUMAN SHOW. Barn find is cool got to see a few episodes Chasing cars gets thumbs up It would be nice to some real builds out there |
Fantom works has some potential...
Chop Cut Rebuild took a huge jump in company promotion products this year I miss Rides....:( I liked Biker Build Off too.... |

Its all about money and what will sell shows and cars. The same reason Tony Stewert hired Danica money!!!

Fantom Works is pretty good... Watch an episode last night. I like the fact that they actually discuss the cost of the builds
$97k for the ground up on the Impala... Ouch... Lucky to sell that car for half of that.... But that's what it costs with all the labor to restore a car like that. Illustrates how expensive this hobby is and how you better be doing this because you love the car, not as an investment :) |

I found this on the intra-net..it's all pure truth right? Seriously, a little research will tell you they're at least genuine car guys. And that black f40 is soo cool. Don't focus on the show so much but the two main guys. I would wager There's way more tv production there than we think. Sadly it will inevitably get more campy as it goes... |

They did a fastback mustang awhile ago could see the spot welds on the rear quarters on my tv imagine what it looks like in person, don't think the quality is there! |

Going back to one of my posts about wishing there was a show about barn finds, I toured the Coker tire facility yesterday and apparently Corky Coker will have a show on barn finds on the Travel channel in the fall.
|
Next time the rerun of the white '64 shows....look at the underside of hood when the Aaron's step-dad is agreeing to pay 42K! :snapout: ......jim
