Big Red
They've been spotted at Bonneville! I'm sitting at the two mile and watched them push past, haven't seen a run yet.
Anyone on here connected with the car? Pretty excited to see the legend up close, such a bad ass car. :king: Dan |
Dan,
My favorite car! Did you get pictures? My son, Ryan, is there with Lee Sicilio's Twilight Zone (69 Daytona Charger) -- they will attempt 300+, maybe later today. Pappy |
I found Big Reds pits but they aren't around, I'll head back after a few more of the big dogs run. Looking forward to seeing that charger run, another full body car that can boogie!
Dan |
You boner!! I told Gwen that I was going over to Bonneville after leaving Sonoma this last weekend.... but then we decided we needed to go to Sun Valley to interview builders and she wanted me to come home and take Stella (our Lab)... so I just headed home instead. Damn nab it! I'd have liked to have gotten together down there -- and Bonneville is on my bucket list!
|
Just ran a 185 an change on a 244 record, not bad at all for a "street car"
|
Me boner? You're the boner! I told you a year ago I was going to use you for your rig! My free lil 16' Komfort has no AC, I'm good but my boys are strugglin.
So I just talked with the Big Red camp. Turns out they are making licensing runs, next will be in the 220 range. They've added a big honkin pro charger and are hoping for 255mph. Cars making a lil more than 1600hp and almost as much torque, they'll need that torque if they want to see 255. Super nice gal I talked with, she said she recognized me. I must be famous! Asked my shirt size and came back with a T shirt, hat and poster! Cars really cool, you can tell it gets used. The discs they put on the wheels have a print of the rims and big discs they normally run, pretty cool. I'll try and load pics tonight from my laptop Dan |

Your boys would have loved me! A/C --- AND satellite TV!! HAHAHAHAHA So here's your assignment should you feel like it or have the time.... Is there a "wash place" for the underside of something like my semi -- to get the salt off the truck and trailer??? It really bothers me to think about driving out there and having all that salt under my brand new rig just eating things up.... |
|
Um ok I'll ask, who's run was that???? :hello:

I Was there on Saturday, saw Big Red leave the start line on Course 4 but that is about all you can see, Problem is .......... unless your behind the windshield you can't see anything, closest you can get is about 1/4 mile away from Course 1
|
So those "caps" weren't airbrushed, very clever
|
Anybody know what ever happened with the release of the movie?
|
Not sure about the movie. They had a film crew today, maybe collecting more footage before the release.
Greg I don't know what to tell ya about the rig. I brought a new to me crewcab down this year and its killing me on how filthy it is. The few truck stops in the area I stay away from, they look like they're mainly just fuel...with some lizards here and there. :disgusted: I'll snoop around some of the big ballers rigs tomorrow and see how bad they are. I've learned to NOT pressure wash, it ends up putting salt further into the crevices. I throw a sprinkler under the rig when I get home, gets most of it. Having a hard time posting pictures, not sure if its the site or because I'm in the middle of the dessert. :D Dan |
Dan --- Yeah that was what I was thinking -- is that maybe you could see what the big race teams do to keep their rigs from rotting. Of course they may just look at you like you're some kind of idiot --- because after all --- they LOVE the salt! That's why they're there!! LOL
However... I'm thinking there's some way to prepare --- or to clean up -- and we just don't know the "secret". |

The Tom Branch roadster...this is my idea of a perfect 32. His wife drives an equally nice Tudor. Studebaker powered and has been here every year I have. Up until a few years ago it was bare metal, I remember him forming some aluminum piece for the race car over the front frame horn. Beautiful car and a nice couple.
More pics of muscle cars tomorrow. |

I did my homework Greg. To avoid any salt touching the new rig, get one of these!

This one looks like more fun, it even has a super ray gun hangin out the side!
It's actually part of the Big Red camp. |

They've got 5-6 cars running in the same camp, these are the oldest.
If I heard correctly the camaro ran over 200mph. |
Awesome pics Dan! Keep 'em coming!
No airplane for me. I don't have Charley money. |

Mustang, no run yet
|
DBasher,
Run across Twilight Zone (69 Charger) yet? They twisted a transmission apart this morning at about 240 -- should get it fixed in time for another pass. Pappy |

Up at the starting lines now, BR is staged. Seems they are hangin around the 200mph mark, we'll see what happens.

Just ran 218 with a 226 exit speed. Some grumbling about the helo on the radio, they hovered around the 4 mile about 75' off the ground. It'll be some great footage!

Pappy, I looked all over for them and then BAM! They drove in front of me, still don't know where they're pitted.
