awesome car and win..congrats
|
Thanks guys.
Wayne had a great time at the show. Sorry I wasn't there for the fun. Was anyone else surprised that Bob Johnsons Cuda didn't win the cup??? |
Surprised it didnt win the cup, yes.
Shocked that it didnt place at all  |
Who won the cup?
|
mark
the red chevy nova, my bad your right the chevelle, lol
|
From another thread, is said the red Nova got a top 3. The '67 Chevelle with the tt's won it. He spent the most with Year One, ;) .
|
Wayne is on his way back from the Year One Experiance. He would have been quite a bit farther along except for the fact that he toasted an outer wheel bearing on the dully.
Anyway... The SN65 took first in our catagory and also placed second for best in show. Which is all fine and good, but Wayne said the best part of the weekend was just hanging out with all the nice people he met. |
i am not suprised ..
only about 1% understand the talent and quality that it took to build that car . and for what i have seen most judges are not that 1% . i could see that the mustang and chevelle placed the nova looks like a almost stock bodied car ! |
I saw that chevelle at SEMA,it was outside stuffed with a bunch of imports and 4x4s.When we checked it out nobody was even around. The Cuda' on the other hand was one of the star's of the show.Funny how things work out.

More surprised it didn't get into the top three and even more shocked about the red Nova.. Not that the Nova isn't a BEAUTIFUL car but aside from its interior it's not exactly a trend setting "out of the box" car.. Congrats on getting the top 3.. hope to see it someday.. |

Most car shows are political in one sense.. Everyone thought Bobby Alloway would win "street machine of the year" last year, but it went to pigford and his Nova (who got screwed the year before).. The Chevelle had a ton of work done to it.. about the only fault I found was that is sits too low in the back. Still, not the results I was expecting. |
I was surpised I thought He would have it in the bag? anyone Know what when on?

Conspiracy theories abound. But no one (Ignore that man behind the curtain) will ever know for sure. Who knows what happened. Wayne said "I can't believe that bob's Cuda wasn't in the final three. It deserved to be up their, should have been up there...... but wasn't" :-( Do you ever wonder if "who you know" or "who you are" is more improtance than the car itself? I know that it is at the local level. Everyone tends to vote for their buddies first and the car second. I think that the final vote should be an open ballot. Kind of like the hall of fame voting. That way everyone can see how people voted. That being the case, they had better be able to justify thier vote. Sigh.... |
I have to say that it does not matter that Bob's Cuda did not win/place/show in the Year One Cup. Does that detract from how wicked Bob's Cuda is? Absolutely not. The fact that a "Conspiracy Theory" has been formulated about what it takes to "win" the Cup is irresponsible and uncalled for. I would still take the Mule, 4 Power Tours, thrashed unmercifully, criticised for being too quiet and all the other negative crap that has been written and said about it over any other show winning car. It's my prize winner. But that's just me.
I think car dudes everywhere acknowledge Bob and his Cuda. If I am not mistaken, It was on the cover of a major publication with the title "The Baddest Car Ever Built". (or something close to that). That is a mountain that is attempted to be climbed by only a few, paved with lots of money, patience and a very, very good idea and so much more than I can guess or describe here. That crap about needing to spend the most with Year One to qualify or win is a giant load of Horse Manure. and that's all I have to say about that. |
Does anyone think that maybe it did place because it was such a high level build?............But the prodigy camaro did place too...........I guess we just wont know how they did it...

The niceset car does not always win. The best man does not always win. The best anything does not always win. Who knows what runs through peoples minds when evaluating anothers project. I think the best criteria I have ever seen, at least for the judging of similar and yet completely different "items", is a dog show. They pick the very best of each breed (in this case type of car) and pit those against each other. The winner is chosen by which dog (or car) best exemplifies the ideals of its breed (make). So, if a perfectly restored 1952 VW beetle meets it's criteria more closely than a pro-street vega, the Beetle wins. In this case, you may, or may not depending on your point of view, have a somewhat better guidline for gudging than "pick whatever car you like best that particular day" Just my 2 cents..... |
I agree Steve...you are much more connected inside than I on the car show thing so I defer to your expertise in that area. I am sure there is more butt smoochin' and crap eatin' than I could stand.
Len started Year One with a 69 Trans Am. He primarily sold Mopar part in the beginning. Yes, began with a Pontiac and sold Mopar parts. That was a long time ago. Bob, your car is awesome. Mine will be. I know this because a Hipo car manufacterer is shoplifting my design as we speak. I have spent a small fortune on mine and it may not make one single mag. But I have a lot of support here and the truth is the truth. That means alot to me. |

Don't worry. Magazines are FULL of cars that copy ideas or that have had thier ideas copied.. If you car is nice you will get the ink. Besides.. you know people in the industry.. lol |

Anyway, Jim, I agree with you, it may or may not make one single magazine, but you built it to have fun, and that's great. |
Hey, not to be off-topic, but how is your project going Steve ?
