eBay sucks!!!!
 

Sorry I just have to vent for a minute!! Why do people bid on items at the last minute of an auction on eBay only to send you a message (or never send anything) and say oops I thought I had the money but now I don't so I can buy it :badidea: :bur2: :shakehead:

Sorry to vent but it just pisses me off, really you didn't know you didn't have the money when you came in and bid at the last second on the auction!!!

This is no excuse but many people "snipe" the auction. Though the bid comes in during the last few seconds, it can be set up days or weeks in advance. NO EXCUSES FOR THIS, just saying that they could have placed the snipe in advance and either forgot they did it, or something came up that they spent their money on. My point is that they likely didn't make the bid at the time it showed up. Bad form and I'd definitely report them to Ebay and put them on my blocked bidders list.

What is eBay's policy on "events" like that?

While on the subject of eBay...

I recently sold a piece of artwork on there. When I received my monthly statement, eBay charged me 10% on the final price. And then 10% on the shipping costs! And of course Paypal got their 3.5% on the total. :disgusted:

I was not happy...

I know Jody, but it still sucks!! He said he thought he had more room on his credit card :BlahBlah:

Nothing, I did report him but that's about it. If does a few times within a month or so they may restrict him :lol:

Yeah tell me about it!!! As for the shipping 10% if you ship through eBay not PayPal you get 20% off with FedEx so doesn't hurt as bad!!

Oh and then he's nice enough to leave me positive feedback!! NO!!! Now it looks like I bid up my own item to get more for it :warning:

I asked eBay to remove his feedback as I canceled the transaction, so we'll see!!

And I did add him to my blocked list.

A LONG time ago -- FleaBay was Ebay and it was mano a mano... real people just doing some business.... then everyone and their brother jumped in and ruined it.

I bought maybe 4 or 5 cars on Ebay -- the first couple were great transactions --- then the scumbags came in and the car was NOTHING like the Ad... and you get burned. I don't even go there to look at cars anymore. It's just become so uninteresting.

ebay blows, used to be a good thing, but like all good things there is a greedy @#$$% behind the bushes wanting more fee's, dont buy or sell anything on ebay and if enough people did that they would be gone, forums like this are much better !!!

No matter what seller site is used there are always these clowns. You can do a second chance offer on the next highest bidder.

Back in the day, its was great... all kinds of rare parts. Now you do a search and it's 50 pages of floor mats, seat covers and hid lights.

I did just sell my Cutlass on there so I guess I can't complain too much.

I've used Ebay extensively for nearly 10 years now and totally agree. Their policies are a joke with no legs to stand on and the customer service is even worse. They basically allow scumbags to do whatever they want. At the same time, they continue to raise their fees. A competitor could crush Ebay if they truly wanted too, given how many people now dislike the site. I've honestly felt like starting an auction website call FreeBay and the site would just make money off advertising. A site where:

1. Bidder's name and history information is no longer hidden from other bidders during an auction(so you can see if another bidder is a seller's 'buddy' and collusion is taking place)

2. If you bid and win the auction and don't pay without good reason(item not as described), your sorry ass is off the site forever.

3. If you can't properly describe your item and it's obvious there were fraudulent intentions on your part, your sorry ass is off the site forever.

4. A seller can actually control who's allowed to bid on their auctions(minimum purchase history or membership term). Ebay claims it can partially do this, but I haven't gotten it to work yet.

That would be a good start. If I had better Web site engineering skills and more free time, I'd be working on it right now.

I am surprised there isn't a good site to compete with ebay really. I suppose that was craigslist but...

I think you're onto something! I like the name too.

I know the other kicker with Ebay is they charge the 10% and then PayPal, which is also eBay charges 3%. So 13% of your profit is down the drain. Crazy.

I sold some Snap On tools on eBay to a fella in Ohio, he cancelled payment AFTER receiving them and claimed they were never delivered. eBay sided with him and I lost about $600 in the deal... Never again...
As stated before, used to be a great place to find great stuff but now just riddled with cheap crap, Chinese knock-offs, and shady people.

Bought a motor years back ($2400 plus shipping) sent the money, seller never delivered...ebay was no help...money gone. But I can't just blame ebay as it happens everywhere, few years ago on this site I bought a set of ridetech shockwave airbags...paid...seller, he never delivered...money gone. I loan money to family and realatives the same way, I can't really call it a loan because the majority of the time I don't ever see the money again..life goes on:G-Dub: :action-smiley-027:

I know it happened to my brother and a car he sold. He recovered it but that couldn't have been cheap to do either.
