Ppd1979 10-10-2013 10:50 AM

That's going to be interesting.

Flash68 10-10-2013 10:52 AM

No way! That is outstanding. Excited to see this unfold Steve.

I like the owner's mentality especially. :D

ArisESQ 10-10-2013 10:54 AM

That seems unbelievably expensive...

Did the customer buy a new model-s to gut and build?

groovyjay 10-10-2013 10:54 AM

This is yet another cool build! Fire away with updates! :bigun2:

Sieg 10-10-2013 10:55 AM

Well IMO that tops chopping up a rare Mopar or sticking an LS9 in Mustang. :D

Thanks for the quote Dave. With an LS motor no less!

1965_SS 10-10-2013 12:56 PM

Holy crap!
Did you guys actually buy all the panels of a real Tesla and are building from completely scratch? Started as a desk????

I cheated and looked at your photobucket.

I should come look at that, if you let people come by and look at projects.........

Alright, Alright! I'm a terrible BS'er!
We were commissioned by a client who is very involved with Tesla Motors to transform a Tesla bodyshell into a reception desk with a 6 week turnaround time :confused59:
We recieved a Brand new Tesla shell from the assembly line in bare aluminum and the work began......

aggie91 10-10-2013 01:42 PM

This out to be cool.

Twoblackmarks... 10-10-2013 02:18 PM

It would be cool With a Tesla With an V8, With an Big Block, but only an 396 With an Rochester 2G to keep it environmentally friendly you know... All Iron of course..

The air cleaner would read 396 Turbo-Miler in green or something.

Or maybe 396 Non-Smiler :( He..He.. :D

1965_SS 10-10-2013 03:27 PM

That is awesome.........2 funny though, I looked at the pictures in reverse order and thought you started with a desk from the factory, took measurements, ordered the factory metal, and were making an LS powered Tesla for a client:lol:

Flash68 10-10-2013 03:29 PM

You're a real bummer Steve!

Cool project.

EBMC 10-10-2013 04:12 PM

Although factory door handles are really sleek on these cars we filled that area for a more sleek appearance

http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/a...pseead9799.jpg

It was very interesting to see howw these cars are built. Its amazing the amount of aluminum used for EVERTHING. the only exeptions were the steel reinforcements on the b -pillars.

This contour took some time to establish the proper line, it would look completely different depending on which angle you looked at it. The 3 rectangles channels on the rocker are factory

http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps0df0f08c.jpg

We used factory front hubs to mount wheels, which dont support any weight, they barely touch the ground
http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps56a2a40e.jpg

The interior panels were fabbed from fiberglass

A coffee bar under the hood?

WSSix 10-10-2013 07:28 PM

That's really cool!

Matt@BOS 10-10-2013 08:07 PM

All of this has me wondering, are Teslas exempt from having to get smogged?

jarhead 10-11-2013 06:42 AM

garickman 10-11-2013 08:58 AM

Nice work Steve! Sweet looking desk.

jy211 10-11-2013 09:37 AM

nice :bump:

MSTSFabbed 10-11-2013 11:19 AM

Nicely done with the decoy first picture. I was so confused...

Chassisworks 10-11-2013 02:29 PM

Nicely done. Makes me want to be a receptionist, haha!

daemon2 10-11-2013 02:41 PM

Your first image is not far off from rumored plans with the Fisker Karma
http://a.img-zemotoring.com/media/ne...sker-karma.jpg
The Karma is dirt cheap now and there are a number available even on ebay.

http://www.wired.com/autopia/2013/01/vlp-destino/

J-440 10-12-2013 01:37 PM

I thought Fisker filed for bankruptcy?

Flash68 10-12-2013 05:13 PM

I really like the lines of the Fisker.

I did drive get to drive a friend's Model S today for about 40 miles... man that thing don't need an LS from 0-60. That instant torque is pretty incredible. :D

65 347 10-12-2013 08:57 PM

Wonder what you guys could do with my old mustang? Looks great!

aggie91 10-15-2013 09:11 AM

WOW, that is too cool:thumbsup:

EBMC 10-15-2013 12:16 PM

Who would've thought EBMC would have an article in "inside EV's"? (thats "electric vehicles" to all you polluters!!)
