dear people,
i would like to join the forum and introduce my project. i am a 34 year old automotive engineer rebuiling my nova to what i call a car  i guess there is a personal page here somewhere to place all the details .... some details are 406 engine, 215 dart heads, roller solid cam with roller rockers, eagle crank, eagle h-beams, fine-balanced, edelbrock air gap, holley double pumper. BMW M3 brake rotors, porsche turbo calipers :wow: , Corvette suspension all around, mustang cobra steering rack. all around poly windows tinted with one piece door windows, all windows custom made, Sparco Race seats ....... the wheels are superlight BBS Le Mans, the interior comes all new, all parts are either new or sandblasted and powdercoated .... these pics are a little bit old, gas tank and bumper rear are installed, door handles too, grill and so on ... |
Wow, killer, I love it. Welcome to Lateral-g. I'm looking forward to more details and pictures of your project.

thanks for the great replies
wow, thanks for the many positive feedbacks.
i will post more pics maybe tomorrow. today i went crazy with the grille and headlamp area today ... it seems to be impossible getting all the gaps the same ... i decided to use as less chrome as possible ... headlamp bezels and grille is powdercoated to be robust against debris. also in the engine bay no chrome, just powdercoated parts ... maybe it was a bad idea to leave to inner fender outs. might ruin the engine bay but i will come up with a solution when time has come. i want the car to be light. no stereo, no wipers, no parking brake, no heating. the door's quarter windows are removed, i get a one piece window custom made. actually all windows are custom made plastic ones that come tinted. and that one in the doors will be fixed, no roll down function. the interior will be new and complete, it will be a full interior of course. also i could have chosen 19" or 20" wheels, but as said this car is for driving so the superlight BBS will do a great job. the rear suspension is painted. polish is for show, leave it as is looks ugly. the engine is great, too. big but drivable cam, great parts, and "desktop dyno" calcutaled something like 550 horsepower. with my target of 1300 kg (2860 lbs) this thing should go. the brakes for the rear i dont know yet, now i have the stock vette brakes, maybe i just leave them in. front is M3 brake rotors and porsche calipers. also big brakes, but not huge 13" .... i want rotary inertia on the wheels and brakes to be small for great acceleration. in the front is a subframe from wayne due's chassis shop. nice item. after surfing the pages here i must say there are many many beautiful rides here :hail: !!! amazing !! gives a lot of motivation to get my car done fast .... |

Also for weight savings why not an alum engine? Bitchin car though keep us all up to date |
like on every car your can still kick out the windshield .... or you just carry one on these emergency hammers with you that you find in couch busses ... it just looks so much better (more modern) with one big window instead of quarter window like on an old beetle ...
but the door is not made for that roll down function with one large window exept you modify the door with i dont want to. so i decided to rather choose visual effects ... for the alumn engine ... my budget is not very very tight, but i have to see where to put the money in .... this is germany ... you dont find small blocks everywhere .. esp. alumn engines... and an engine can be changed later on any time ... so i focused on the items i dont want to change ... paint, bodywork, subframe suspension etc ... once the car performs i can still come up with a different engine thats fairly easy to change. |

Really nice car!!

That is truly a thing of beauty. Absolutely awesome ride man. Def keep the updates coming :hail:

Very nice! As for the one piece windows, making them roll down shouldn't be that hard. Sedan window channel is available in the lengths you would need, and since it is a sedan you can use one of the "streetrod" universal power window mechanism. I haven't done it myself, but I have seen it done and I really don't think it would be that hard.
One more thing, where did you get the washers used on your hood latch?? Shiny Side Up! Bill '72 442 "Inamorata" |
i thought about making the windows functional, but hey, why all the weight in the doors.
plus polycarbonate windows scratch more easily, so i just leave them up and fixed. this car is not meant for "boulevard-please-everyone-look-at-me-cruising" where it is important to roll down the window to flirt with the girls ... i find another way to get fresh air in ... we will see. the washers are really neat :unibrow: i know. i have a shop here they sell them. it is metric dimensions, but i guess US countersunk screws will fit too. they come stainless steel. i could send you some if you would like to have a set. i found a store here i get 50 STAINLESS STEEL countersunk M6 screws, lets say an inch long, for maybe 7 bucks  but the washers are more expensive though ... |
Love the color! nice job!

after so many years i rode to the gas station and filled it up.
my heart was beating like crazy i was so nervous ..... what you do if some grandpa hits you in the back or so with his car ...... the engine runs great. right now i still fight some braking power battle which i hope to win tonight .... the cowl needs some modifications and is not mounted yet. and i cannot find new chrome moldings for the rear quarters so i havent installed the door molding either .... but you know what i just love it the way it is ... these minor things can be done in winter for now i just testdrive :D :D :D |
beautiful color.
|
A 5+ year update! Excellent! Car looks wicked sharp!
|
i know !! 5 years !!
damn. well, i had health problems in 2006 and it delayed everything for 1 to 2 years. i then had some side projects and many things that distracted me ..... you can imagine the relief of actually driving that car .... :) |
Looks great! Love the BBS wheels.
