Quadra-Link progress pics
 

I got the brackets solidly tacked to the rear end housing and it's ready for mock up once I get the stuff done to the body. As you can see, for a jig, I just tacked it to my little welding bench. It worked great and it would be impossible to set the -2 degree pinion angle without a solid jig of some sort.

I'm extremely impressed by how well thought out this kit is. It really went together well. But then again, this is a DSE product, it's pretty much a given that the quality would be off the scale. :thumbsup:

Oh yeah, and I should mention that the swivel links are trick. I have no idea how they work, but it's amazing how smooth and fluid their movement is.

Lookin' good Scott. It is a well engineered kit. Hopefully it gets all of the power to the pavement like it was designed to. Nice.

Yeah I played with one at the display at a car show. I bet its something not too crazy but I just settled on calling it magic since I will probly never know how they really work.

Scott, what are you running for a rear end? It looks like a Currie with the aluminum housing? Just curious, very close to what I had in mind on my car. By the way looks great :thumbsup: . Travis

Scott, It is great to see the progress picts. I am running a different rear but I have some similar welding tasks to acomplish. I would love to see exactly what you tacked where for the jig.

Man to think of all the hours I spent building a simular rear suspension package for my camaro...all I really had to do is wait a few more years!! :lol:

Scott, this should be a good way to figure out how it works. When you get it all installed, leave the coil overs out. You don't have to let it swing freely, but with a floor jack and a jack stand you can watch the articulation. It's pretty sweet, really.

I got an e-mail from a member noting the axles in the housing. I guess I should have pointed out that I did the QL installation on a bare housing and that the axles and rotors were installed after I was done... just for taking a few pics... it gave it a more complete look.

William, here's a pic of the way I mounted the housing. I welded the standoffs with the angle iron to my table, then set the housing on the angle iron, set the -2 degree pinion angle and tacked it. It was solid and worked great. I know it's not the fanciest jig out there but it was a good solution for doing it yourself in your 2 car garage.

Nice. I agree the Quadra-link is AWESOME!

I wish it was easier to install on a low car. We had to make quite a few adjustments to get it to work. But that's just me whining... :rolleyes:

By the way were the axle tubes and ends already tacked on, How did you get the brackets over the tubes? I have a 12 bolt and was thinking I may have to cut the brackets in 1/2 or the ends off and then re-weld the ends to the tubes. Any tips :unibrow:???

My housing already had the ends installed so I had to cut the brackets. At first I concerned about strength, but the brackets offer A LOT of surface area to weld. If you look at the image I attached a few posts back, you can see one of the brackest that I had cut. Once I had the bracket postioned and tacked, I welded the the bracket back together. With the brackets fully welded around the circumference of the axle tube, they aren't going anywhere. :thumbsup:

One note to anyone who may have been considering powdercoating of their Q-link swivel-links....I was talking to DSE about this and they currently advise not to, since the seals inside the assembly won't tolerate the heat of the powdercoat bake. Just figured I'd pass that on. -R

They can be powder coated you just have to know the "secret"... :yes:

Frickin' sweet, nice job.

I had "parts" of the QuadraLink powdercoated, but was very careful with seals and bushings. Don't want to cook those things. Besides, Kyle probably liked the pretty red panhard bar that was sent back.

Scott, that rearend should be great. You'll have to give us a comparison between that and your old setup. The 'ol seat-of-the-pants test.
