Awesome, congrats Brian! I think one of my boys video his across run. I check to see if they did and post it. He was was in the 35 sec time range. The next faster was in the 37 sec range and that was 't anything to sneeze at. Congrats to Danny and Mark also!

Congrats to Brian! We were out there almost all day and it was a blast. Great weather and awesome cars. Trying to figure out what program to use to post some pics up. Any recommendations?

Wonder what happen to James (OLC) placing 0 in hotlap and speed/stop.

the design points are kinda off imo. too much emphasis placed on design, Personally, since the points are soo tight, the design shouldn't have such high numeric value, 1/2 that would bee sufficient. Is it that older builds do not matter as much? I do like the fact that the "movement" matters the most.

Mike I looked and looked as well, I found the link on FM3's Facebook page?? I've been watching all the sites this afternoon.

I currently have a facebook email issue and cant get in. Most the day i was in travel coming home from SEMA. Had 7 friends go to OUSCI on their home, four hand never even heard of it. Blah. But i did get to see the track as i flew overr it lol. Next year, i think i will volunteer or at the very least, buy as a spectator. And if God willing, qualify !!!!

I watched Brian on every pass. Solid car -- better driver. Well deserved!

The 0's just mean they didn't place high enough in that segment to gain any points.
I hate the design element part of it because it has nothing to do with actual track performance, Brian would have won by a larger margin and the top 3 would have been different without the design segment, it's too subjective to someones opinion. 1 example is Larry Woo's car, if you have ever seen his car it's very nice and has some cool stuff done to it and he gets 0 points in the design. Really?

Tim but if I remember correctly the reason they put the design eliment is was to keep the race car out or at least keep them from taking over the whole thing? If you think back to Hot Rods Fastest "Street" in America that's what happened there. After a couple of seasons nothing but race cars showing up.

Tim, i was thinkin the same with Karl's car, it is just beautiful. But to somebody else, its just another 1st gen. I dont mind the design part, but the emphasis shouldnt have such a point spread imo.
Dont get me wrong on the Rad Rides built Torino, it works too. I was privileged to drive along with it on the Texas road tour and it was pretty much flawless after 2085 miles.
But this is thee "Street Car Invitational" of invitational's...

I think you will have a serious shot next year if the car you are building will be considered a street car...or will it be track only?

Congrat's To Brian for a great Win!!!!!.But I'm sorry but everybody should get some kind of point's if they complete a segment. It's ONLY FAIR.Giving them a zero is another way of keeping some people at the top.I agree W/Tim.When I did OUSCI in 2009 Everybody got somewhere between 10-1 in the design section.They made the trip,give them the point's.I see the DSE White Monster 2012 Camaro didn't get any design point's REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!That car is Frickin way cool.It's harder to make those 5th gen's look better than a 1st.gen.But DSE did,so give'm some point's DUDE.

I was a crew member for Monty Berney and part of the build of the legendary "Bertha 1" in the early 90's, I remember very well! After a couple of years though, nothing but Pro Mods with weight added.

I was out there most of the day as well... weather was awesome... Cars were awesome! I really enjoyed watching the Red Ridetech Chevy pickup tear up the Autocross course. At one point he spun out so proceeded to do donuts. That truck was FAST and sounds great!

It was great to see how the event has grown. I drove out the second year and had a connection back then to watch from the roof of one of the shop buildings (with a couple of the Ridetech guys if I remember correctly.) No such luck this year so it would have been nice for the spectators to have some type of big screen and cameras on the road course to give us pedestrians a better view of the event.

Big congrats to Brian for the win! Even more impressive that he would have still won without any help from design points.

Congrats to Brian, hands down the coolest Corvette I have ever seen. The family history makes it even cooler. Great job to Mark and Danny also.

I won't make any excuses for our 5th shot at the OUSCI title - I had a bad day. I've been fighting some health issues over the last few months and we wound up getting the car together much later than we had hoped and we really didn't have a chance find the weak points in the new setup before SEMA. The car was great on the cruise Friday night despite having no dyno tuning and me having no seat time. Saturday the car felt really good on the recon laps but we never really had an opportunity to push on the car; the weight loss was noticeable and the car felt more responsive than ever. We started on the Autocross and on my second run something started to feel odd with the steering - I attributed it to the difference between the old box and the new rack. I knew my AX times weren't great and was pretty disappointed in my performance heading in to the road course portion of the event.

Things didn't get off to a great beginning for the time trials as my starter died and I needed a push start to get going - definitely killed my focus. At the end of the warm up lap I got to the end of the straight and turned in to the last series of turns and felt something give in the steering - just a click but I think that I went through the last two turns sideways. I had a pretty decent first lap going despite a bad end to the warm up but again, at the end of the back straight things went south. I got to the first turn at around 130 only to find that I had no power steering. I muscled though the three turns only to have the PS come back on the last one, again putting me sideways. I tried to get through the second lap but the PS kept coming and going and frankly it was a pretty hairy lap. If the PS has stayed dead I would have tried a third but it was pretty unsafe the way it was and I pulled off.

DSE helped us out with a replacement PS pump and we swapped ours out before for speed stop challenge. In the pits it felt like we had it fixed but as I pulled it up for the speed stop it quit again. This is all being made worse in so much as we don't have a starter and we're bump starting the car every time we need to try something. I tried to do the speed stop without power steering but it kept coming and going and I was never able to out together a solid run (although I thought I did better than I guess I did).

Definitely not the day I was hoping for but I am thankful that we had the opportunity. We'll do our best to regroup and will be back at some point - hopefully in time for the first Ultimate Street Car Series event at Laguna Seca in March.

Mike - plans for next year are up in the air right now. As of right now we're focused on getting the car set for the USCA event in March. After that I'm not sure what we'll do. There are lots of options available and at this point I wouldn't discount any possibility including taking some time off.

One of the great things about yesterday's OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational was the huge variety of cars that we're not only in attendance but were in contention as well. The posted results don't tell the whole story (and in some cases lead to more questions than answers) but it was really interesting to see how things changed through the day.

Congrats Brian. :trophy-1302: I'm really happy for you and your dad. I didn't get to watch you on the road course, but I got to see you on the autox and the speed stop, and you were on fire! Sorry about your car problems James, and Matt too! I know all the work it takes just to get in the position to maybe get into Optima, and then not be able to give it your best shot, when you finally get there, has to be really hard to accept. When we had all our trouble last week, everyone kept saying " at least it happened now, and not at Optima". It didn't make me feel any better at the time, but now I see their point.

Karl, I always thought you deserved the invitation, and couldn't imagine the event without you and Cris bringing Blu out. With changing track conditions based on time of day, varying skill levels of drivers and opinions of design, you proved, regardless of any tangible numbers for times or style, that you and Blu definitely belong in one of the top spots!

Rick the design portion carries too much weight in the scoring imho, if they don't want race cars, then don't invite them, they pick the cars. Explain to me how the Lingenfelter car scores 4 design points and the DSE 2012 camaro scores 0. Which car has more fab and design involved? 2 of the top 3 cars have ties to the design judges, imo those judges should recuse themselves from judging those cars.

I don't care to participate in this event, there are too many variables involved to make it a TV show that have zilch to do with it being a fair competition imho. I only want to race in an event where I have control over my finish.

I finally got the chance to meet Brian, super nice guy, and it is completely stock with JRI shocks. Steel leaf spring stack in the back, and stamped upper and lower control arms in the front still. Full stock interior with the drivers seat being exchanged for a racing seat...
