1965 Dodge Dart GT it was a 273 with a 4 speed. Its getting a supercharged 5.7 punched out to a 392 with a tremec 6 speed. The front suspension is from Magnum Force and the rear suspension is a custom torque arm with a watts link with ride tech coil overs. Wayne and Pam McGriff at M and M will be taking care of the interior.

I'm going to love watching this one go together, awesome project. My wife had a 66 GT convertible with a 273 when I met her, of course that was in 1973. Subscribed

CarterHickmanDesigns 12-05-2013 11:41 AM

Why did you cut it in half? :y0!:

Ketzer 12-05-2013 12:12 PM

Holy Smokes! and I was nervous just cutting the floor out of my project...!

Amazing work!

Jeff-

Big Oak Garage 12-05-2013 12:50 PM

The reason for cutting it in half is we wanted the car to look more aggressive and have better proportions. These car are really narrow and really long, so we wedge cut the roof 2 inches and instead of leaning the A pillar or lengthening the roof we decided to shorten the car 2 inches behind the B pillar. We also stretched the wheelbase 2 inches and that will allow us the move the front wheel opening forward in the front fender 4 inches to make the overbite go away.

coolwelder62 12-05-2013 09:31 PM

Wow!!! Now that's a big step. This is going to be an awesome project. Please keep posting.

Here are some more pics. When we cut the inner wheelhouse out behind it we found where an unhappy assembly line worker had been. On the inside of the quarter panel they had wrote a 4 letter word in the rubber coating sprayed on there by the factory. We got the body stuck back together and the front wheel well cut out and playing around with the placement of that.

Awesome work guys!! Really love to see this era of Dart done right!

Quick question, if you rake the roof and dont lean the pillar back, what do you do with the glass, have it ground? Or do you have someone that cuts it?

Wicked work. Love it!

The guy that is doing the work on the windshield said he was just going to grind it. We are not going to be using the stock rubber so it will only need to be ground down about a 3/8.

I actually followed your build on the A body forum. There are not many people out there building these so it was nice watching yours come together. I would love to see it in person.

Here we cut off the part of the deck lid that went down to the bumper and raised the body up past the taillights. We wanted to clean this area up where there was no gap between the taillights and the gas filler will be in the back panel, fabricated a new package tray and have started the exhaust.

So glad you decided to join us on Lat G --- you're doing some really killer fab work! I don't care what kind of car it's on....
