I'm curious how different people view this subject. What ... in your opinion ... makes this not a street car ... compared to other pro-touring cars that are highly modified, have frame mods or new frames?

Specifically, what crosses the line ... that makes it no longer a street car?

I'm asking for your opinion ... and others too?

that's a loaded question!! that may need its own thread, to me....if you can't drive it daily I mean DAILY, rain, shine, snow, fog whatever, just like your wife's Honda, its not a street car, its purpose built then, I see a lot of cars at events, no heater, no wipers, no working lights, no side windows, no brake lights, some you cant even lock the doors! etc, but since its registered and has a form of insurance they call there stripped down can a street car, I think the controversy will get heated :catfight:

214Chevy 12-13-2013 05:59 PM

Who cares? :underchair: I'm a pic whore!! Just show me some pics. :peepwall:

LOL. That statement was made all in good fun. It's a very controversial subject on just about every forum I visit. Everyone has their own definition of what a street car is. I tend to view it as Rod P said. If you can't hop in it and drive it to work everyday no matter the weather (minus snow/ice) or run down to the quick mart to pick up milk with your 2 year old son, it's not really a "street car" IMHO.

That said,...I can't wait to see updates on this B.A. build!

coolclassiccars 12-14-2013 08:49 AM

well ,I'm no expert on this ,but your gettin my 2 cents worth.from the pics I see it sure is a street car.detroit speed clip, swivel link rear. and oh what looks like an ls3 from acouple pics.wipers define a street car?really. I would have to say most'' pro street'' ''custom'' cars cars use heim joints that bind in most corning situations ,that cause the car to not turn at speeds.i just love the convertible top.good job from what I see, frame looks good.got a color in mind?gm has a new red on the 14 Camaros,'' pull me over''thinkin about it for my Camaro convertible.i got to go to the dealer to see it in person.

Well, see what you guys did?

I say "F" all the lables, let the car and driver prove itself. You can have all the bells n whistles on the car and it performs like a pig.

So if he replaced his heims with rubber bushings it would make it a street car? They are on the sway bar end links, should be fne. I had a rear suspension with heims on my daily and it handles very well.

Co mon Whiteboy lets see more pictures and details bro!

Here was the starting phase of fitment and teardown. To answer the big question about is it a street car or race car. Answer is this is a Street car. will it be daily driven, NO. Capable of daily use? 110%. Im just not taking the risk of something happening to it. LSA drivetrain. 6l90E. So why wouldnt it have CTS-V like reliability. Strange 35 spline trutrac ford 9". Brembo brakes. Detroit speed uses vette front spindles. So whats gonna be the weakest link? probably the soft top lol.

That tube chassis is sweet. Who built it?

whiteboydrew 12-14-2013 04:08 PM

Dan @ BRE in Salida Ca. I waited two years to find a builder that i was confident in. he has over delivered on every aspect of the build so far, the pics speak for themselves really.
