OK I just bought the P.O.S for my Kindle. With any luck I won't read it while on vacation next week.

Awesome Jim!!

I have some friends that need Xmas presents… Not sure they can read… but who cares. It's the thought that counts!

Ordered my copy this morning. Anyone know where I can get a personal autograph from this famous author when I get my copy? Is there a social event somewhere where this cool cat will be, how long are the lines? Can we have a private group setting? What kind of train ride is it? Nancy Hanks? Man, I am so excited now :EmoteClueless:

Ummgawa 12-14-2013 06:50 PM

Just so everyone will know, Stuart Adams is a rounder in the book.

GregWeld 12-14-2013 07:12 PM

Who knew that you can get a Kindle APP for your iPad…

I just downloaded the app -- then went straight out to Amazon and downloaded the book. Took about 28 seconds.

Love the "gotta" and "shoulda" --- and the just read it anyway. HA! This is gonna be good!

This morning, The Train Ride was at 76,471 (way up from 172,647-last week) out of 11,800,000 books on Amazon as far as Kindle downloads go. It might not sound like much, bu that's in the top 6% in book sales on Amazon.com right now.

Not bad for a book that has been up since December 10th, 2013. Get one and give it a read.

Great job.

The guy who was my actual partner in crime is a long gone ex friend, but I just couldn't leave out the story. I inserted Stu because I knew if we'd have known each other back then, he'd have been right there. Thanks Greg!

That's awesome Jim. Congrats and good luck with the book!

Ummgawa 12-16-2013 05:34 PM

I just got a notification that my book hit number 62 on the top 100 sports biographies on Amazon.com. How cool is that. The number moves around every hour, but it was right there today. That put it in the top 4% of books sold on line via Kindle. This is according to the reporting data they sent me.

Ummgawa 12-17-2013 02:24 PM

Number 58 out of 100 today.

Sports biographies on Amazon.com. Search "The Train Ride" by Jim Hall.

GregWeld 12-17-2013 03:11 PM

I was laughing so hard while reading the book last night I had to take my glasses off and wipe my eyes three times -- I couldn't even finish the page!

The gamecock story…. Oh gawd that was funny!

Ummgawa 12-18-2013 06:05 AM

Hey Greg,

I got a body slamming negative review from a Jane Austen reader. It is hilarious. The responses to her critique are classic. Someone asked her why she (if she is indeed a she) would bother to chose a book about Division II football over the thousands of other offerings on Amazon more suited for her intellect. She went as far as to say "Mr. Hall is not a writer". Hellfire, I'm the first to admit that! I love it!

Thanks Tracy!

My book broke the Top 50 out of 100 Sports biographies this morning. It's a quickly moving number, but that's not bad for a book out ten days...

It's available on Kindle, paperback, Nook and now ITunes!

Book was at number 40 on the top 100 in Sports Bios for the past two days.

Kindle will get you some good laughs in a hurry!
