1970 Chevelle build

4 Attachment(s)
I had a 1970 chevelle in high school that I took to with me to college. After college it was hit and run and I didnt have full coverage. It made me sick to look at my poor car with hude dent in it. I didnt have the money at the time to fix it so I sold it. I recently found a roached out 1970 chevelle for cheap and have decided to do a build.
The plan is LS1 with a T56 trans for the power. Hellwig boxed frame, tubular a-arms up front with coil over shocks all corners. 2013 camaro IRS rear end grafted into the 1970 frame. I want to go with an updated interior complete with center console. I want to shave the side marker lights and drip rail and smooth the fire wall. I also want to flush mount the windshield and rear window. I am still undecided on wheels and not positive on the color yet.

sending it out to the media blasters to really see what sheet metal i am going to have to replace. Initial loor around roof is going to need to be replaced as someone put a sun roof in it at one point. It was a vinyl top car originaly and rusted pretty bad. one quater panel for sure need to be replaced but not sure on the passenger side. It apears that it is still the orriginal blue paint that it rolled off the dealership with, but we will see.Attachment 44444

Welcome to the site. :ohsnap: Seems you've got your work cut out for you, but it's possible. Good luck!

Toreback,
Welcome to the site, and welcome a new member of the Chevelle club. There are only a few of us, but we make up a good team.
As others have said, you have your work cut out. It can be done though. Sounds like you have a plan and are ready to go.

Bill

Thank you guys. I am looking forward to bringing it back to life. Here are some pics of it after media blasting. the passnenger quarter is going to need to be replaced as it has a bit of filler on it. looks like it must have been a fix from the 70's or 80's.Attachment 44460

I really enjoy following build threads like yours. Keep the motivation up!

Welcome aboard Toreback. I love the sunroof, and was hoping you'd keep it. Lol.
I bought two cars initially. My first one was drug out of the woods with a tree growing up between the firewall and crossmember. I stole a few parts off it, and crushed her. It was rough. Loving what your doing to this one. Keep this thread updated! we love pics!

Sorry I hav enot updated in a while. I got the car back from having the new quarters installed and now. I will mock up the LS1 and the T56 in the car next. I think i am going to go with all 2010-13 camaro interior.

Does anyone know if it is possible to have the LS1 work with the 2010-13 interior harness/gauges? I know it would be much easier to just go LS3 and then all the harnesses will work together.

Toreback,
Looked like you were on checking things out last night. So give us an update on yours. You are looking better than I for panel replacement. I am not even near getting my quarter off. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will be there.

Sorry for not updating

sorry for not keeping my posts up. I have been busy with work. I have been taking pictures as I progress but I will have to get them uploaded. I really wish someone would make a flush mount glass kit for the 70's A bodies. I really like the look and wish that I could get it made.
