Keisler

Anyone know what is going on with these guys? I gave them a $1000 deposit a month ago for a transmission kit due to ship early March. The $4000 balance was supposed to be charged two weeks before shipment. Today I got an email that they will be charging the balance tomorrow to guarantee a production slot with their supplier. My first reaction is they are having cash flow problems and I just read on the Corvette forum they are telling some folks they are having financial problems. The sales guy is referring folks to Shafi's email. Needless to say I am thinking about doing a chargeback to get my deposit back. Any similar experiences here on this forum?

What are you trying to order from them?

4L60E kit for a Mopar 440. A bit of an oddball kit to find. Might have to figure out how to do it myself but this may exceed my limited expertise...

I was going to say the same thing, but I am new here, and did not know how that would be received.

66SuperSport 01-08-2014 06:27 PM

A friend of mine ordered a specially geared T-56 from Keisler in March '13. This would be the fourth trans that he had purchased direct from them, with never any problems in the past. A truck finally showed up in August and his wife accepted delivery. When he got home he cut the bands on the skid and opened the box. No Trans!!! Now Keisler hired the shipping company and charged my friends credit card, but are not stepping up and taking any responsibility. Special K has his money and is not doing anything. Every time he contacts Keisler my friend gets some line of bs that they are waiting for a case, they dont have the gears, it's going to ship next week, Special K is unavailable, ect..... He's out almost 4K and has nothing!
In my opinion i would not buy anything from Keisler, EVER!!!

Give Mark Bowler(Bowler Performance) a call Awesome people and wont steal your money.

GregWeld 01-08-2014 06:32 PM

Get your deposit back as fast as you can and buy anything OTHER than from them. This has been nothing but trouble for a couple years now. A house of cards just waiting for the final breath of wind.

We are family here...brothers. No need to worry about that. Especially, if it can help one of us. Nonetheless, if someone asks on a forum, they have to be willing to accept all answers.

chr2002ca 01-08-2014 06:35 PM

Get your money back as soon as possible and walk away. Keisler's troubles are never-ending. I dealt with them once for something simple and it was a hassle. Never again.

I've contacted your finance person, no reply. Dave promised me it would done last week, still not done and no reply from him now. My credit card company is of no help because you provide them with misleading information. What kind of circus are you running there???"

canrc 01-08-2014 07:44 PM

I had ordered a kit from them sometime back and I had the same issue -- deposit given with nothing but a complete run around. Charge it back and and like Greg said order from anyone other than them!

Vegas69 01-08-2014 07:50 PM

Get your money back, regardless of the avenue. I see they are no longer a sponsor here...

Yeah -- it costs money to be a sponsor - and then you actually have to pay your bill - Oh and then you have to be a decent vendor too!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Vegas69 01-08-2014 08:45 PM

 Is that all?

Wissing72 01-08-2014 08:54 PM

This sucks! I got a trans set up years back and they were good to deal with. I guess Shafi spent too much trying to expand too fast, build cars and be on t.v. and forgot where it all came from. Too bad. I agree, run.

Bowtieracing 01-08-2014 11:32 PM

Have bought 4 transmissions and one clutch from them. Everything went as supposed. I think they have best line in manuals, ss700, rs400-500 and tko500-600.

Frank @ Prodigy was a supporting member here at one time... but if you run your business into the ground... or you don't deliver and take peoples money for months and months... Then a GOOD forum operator would give those kinds of vendors the boot.

Frank was an real scam artist. He did everything to keep right people happy and took the regular forumjoes money. And to make it even better, he had magazine project car going on same time :trophy-1302:

OK I cancelled the order. Will give them a week to process the deposit refund and then initiate a chargeback.

I have spoken with Phoenix who are highly recommended by Steve at Twist Machine and they can help me with this aside from the crossmember and shifter which I think are within my abilities. They are also local to me which is a bonus.

Thanks to everyone for the responses and PM's. I sincerely appreciate it.

I don't know how long its been since you have given the deposit but I would initiate the chargeback right away as the credit card company does take sometime to process the chargeback and if in the meantime they credit your deposit back just let the CC company know its been resolved. That was the problem I was having with them -- they kept telling me that they couldn't credit my card and that they would mail a cheque to me, once I posted on the forums they were magically able to credit my card.

My assumption was that I would have to give them a fair opportunity to give me a refund before initiating the chargeback but I will give the credit card company a call. It has only been 30 days so in theory I have another 60 days to get my chargeback.

Thanks,
Don

This is all sad to hear because I have bought 4 complete TKO 600 kits from them and just got one last month and they have been very accurate on everything and times that they have told me,good luck and hope you get your refund.

Let's get this straight: He did nothing to keep us (moderators) happy. He never got a seconds worth of protection from any of us. We called Frank out first and fastest, then kicked him to the curb.

I don't understand?

Apparently a good product?, in demand, folks paying thousands up front, waiting months past deadlines, new products being anxiously waited on, on all the forums, at the big shows.... and they're just mis-managing it into the gutter? WTF?

Jeff-

Jeff I had the exact same thing with APT! And your correct it all comes down to mismanagement .

kimosabi 01-09-2014 06:28 PM

Was looking at their kits today but if they are that slow and unreasonable with you guys, I can't even imagine how long it would take a Norwegian to actually recieve a shipment. Thanks!

 yes i got support from Scott when i realized what Frank was. Luckily i lost only few hundred.

68FBODY 01-10-2014 06:47 PM

I will say, I have had a negative experience with them when ordering from their website.

However, I ordered my 5 spd. kit on eBay from them and I received it quite quickly and without any delay. My thought on that is they are under the power of the buyer on ebay and especially when using papal as well. Because you can hold their funds if things are not working out.

HELLCAMINO 01-10-2014 08:14 PM

I orignally wanted the RS600, but read numerous threads that it had supplier issues with the gear sets for it. I decided to go with the RS500 since I knew that one was going into production (so I thought). I placed the order in Jan 2012, they never charged my account like I have read in the past (or present in this thread). It was around June of that year and I happen to check my account one day and I saw that $2300 was gone! I saw that they charged the whole amount in one shot. I called them up and they said that is how they are doing it and that is when they started building my trans. Ok.......It took 2 months (now August) to get it. It sat in my garage until March of 2013 when I finally got around to installing it. I placed the order for the driveshaft and within 2 weeks I had it on the road. So I can say neither good or bad from my experience with them, but I did have to make plenty of phone calls to them. I also ran into the sales rep twice at Carlisle spring and fall show and complained also during all this.

Vince@Meanstreets 01-11-2014 01:09 AM

I'm just curious Don, did you call them and ask them what the was going on? I know its easy to jump to conclusions and think the worst but just bailing without an explanation does two things.
one, Doesn't give them an opportunity to explain the situation if it was a justifiable issue do to a custom part.

two, lets them off the hook without repercussions if something was handled wrong or fraudulent.

Again, im just curious. I am not defending anyone here.

dhutton 01-11-2014 06:37 AM

Howdy Vince. I sent two emails to the person who sent the email requesting payment in full and another email to Shafi. All went unanswered. I also called her and their system terminated the call telling me to call back later after it rang for a while. Apparently she does not have voicemail or it was full.

When I read on the Corvette forum that Keisler employees are advising unhappy customers to contact Shafi and that they are having financial difficulties all the pieces point to problems. I think that when employees are to this point of telling customers they are having financial problems it might be time to worry.

Let's also keep in mind here this is a 4L60E and not one of their latest and greatest transmissions. It should not take 3 months to deliver nor payment in full two months in advance. Furthermore the price includes the bellhousing, flexplate, driveshaft, controller, trans crossmember, cooler lines, shifter, etc so getting the transmission in the production queue at the supplier should not require full payment. At the very least they should not be asking for their profit two months is advance of shipment...

Yep... Phoenix is close to us down in Weatherford. I've used their products in the past and haven't had any issues. My machinist also has a local transmission shop he uses for his high performance builds and is very happy with them.
