Speedtech Convertible '69 RS SS
We recently got a '69 Convert in the shop for an engine and suspension swap. It's almost done, we need to adjust the suspension, do an alignment, and a little bit of interior work to wrap things up. Thought I'd share a few photos and will post more "posed" pics when it's done.
The story is this car was bought at auction a few years back. Upon returning home the car got driven about 8 miles when the SBC grenaded. So much for a fully rebuilt car. The owner was so frustrated he just put it in storage. Over this past summer we built a '69 Camaro for his son, see below. That car became a mag cover car not long after it was finished. Dad liked our customer service, shop work, and products so he decided to dust off the 'Vert and bring it to us. We're glad he did, and we suspect the car is too :). We found several things wrong with it besides the bad engine, so we ended up swapping in our Track Time complete front and rear suspension package along with an LS2 backed by a 4L60 and a full custom stainless exhaust system. Enjoy the pics! nice work on both cars.

nice car. What is the od off the exhaust piping 2.5 or 3 inch?
|
Exhaust
Thanks Ben for the exhaust pics with the Torque arm and stock tank, exactly what I was after.

Very nice guys, is he changing the wheels? They just look a little dated? Nice looking car!

Awesome suspension upgrade Ben. Just wondering is this the EFI tank from Aeromotive/Tank Inc?
|
The exhaust on this car is 2.5" od. That is an Aeromotive fuel tank with internal Stealth 340 pump.

Wow! Another "auction car" gone bad... who'd a thunk it!?!?
Nice work and glad it turned out! Such a bummer to buy a car and have it go south on a guy. Now that he's found a first class shop -- maybe he'll start to enjoy his car the way he should. |

Lol! The last 3 auction cars we had come in all had major issues. It's a shame folks that don't see the problems are buying these cars for top dollar, and then find out later it was thrown together poorly. Helps keep the honest shops like us busy I guess, but it's still too bad. Anyways, at least it'll leave here in good shape. |

Sorry to say it's all custom built in our shop. It's a tight fit so best bet would probably have someone locally bend them for you.

The tail pipes would probably be a nice item to make as an option to go with your truck arm kit. I bet it would be a good seller.

Great product
My neighbor bought a ton of suspension parts for his 66 Chevelle before you guys moved from Pitt Meadows and he had been busting my b...s over my 70 Roadrunner for long enough. The runner is sold as of last week and I'm looking for a 69 Camaro to start working on and even though you've moved out of the area I'm inclined to back the home team and your products...yes...his Chevelle handles fantastic by the way...best of luck to you and your team in the future and once I find a good 69 project you'll be getting a call...maybe even a visit.
Cheers...Dave |
Thanks for the compliments Dave, and glad to hear your bud's Chevelle is kickin'. As much as we like all cars, so far our research and development team has been tied up on GM products. Sad to hear the Roadrunner was let go, but picking up a Camaro opens a whole new world for you.
Our door is always open, and there is a lot of great places to visit within an hour or two to make your trip down a nice little vacation. Don't forget, you can bring the car and we can put it together for you too! |
