Tim Allens 68
I thought I saw this car in amongst some pictures of Sema this past year, Seems it has not seen alot of attention. I think it is very tastefully done! |

One of my favs; and I really liked how they widened it.
Agreed, it seems to not have gotten a lot of attention. Very understated, like his '55 Ford 2 dr post sedan with the GT-40 motor. |
I like the understated look much better than the in your face look. That is basically what I was going for with Dust Off.
|
We gave Tim gas

Love the interior

Very cool well done car. Love the look on Tim's face when he lit it up.
|
I saw it at SEMA. very cool car, just wish it had different wheels.
|
Very good looking Cammy
|
Bad to the bone.

Awesome! This car caught my eye in some SEMA coverage. Its incredibly understated - subtle tweaks, original looking - but packs the pro-touring goods. I even like the color too! It stood out to me among the more over-the-top cars I remember. If I were to build a Camaro, this is pretty close to it (although I am more partial to the '69 body style).

Looks like a great driver.
|
IMO Leno was 'understated' as well, with fellow mega-star Allen. Usually Jay seems way more enthusiastic in these vids.
:catfight: lol |
love it.. I may be biased:confused18:

Tried really hard to like 'em (like I used to), but even on this car...couldn't. |

They agree, Tim the Tool Man is a car guy. ;)
|
Yeah I agree - love the look. I don't know if its because I"m getting older or what, but I used to love the over the top stuff and still do, but I find with the plethora of big wheels and shaved everything, I actually have begun to appreciate stock restoration style cars more than I used to. But, I still don't like crappy little 15" wheels and skinny tires and pickup truck ride heights and uneven stance (not to mention carbs and drum brakes). So a car like this just hits it perfect. Same approach I'm taking in the latest build of my car, getting away from the modern/race car inspiration and trying to incorporate all the performance and pro-touring stuff I can with a more understated traditional look.

I'm a Mopar guy but this is nice!
|
Personally, I like the wheels.:peepwall:

What I'm hearing in the interview Tim saying he wanted a black COPO style wheel with hubcaps only in 17s? THAT would have been awesome. These are just later rally wheels in 17s with hubcaps and trim rings. Not a bad look but definitely not COPO style... and Allen knows the difference.

I wouldn't do something modern either for wheels...rather use a wheel that resembled what the road racers were running back in that era...in a 17". Bottom line it appears to be a well sorted out PT car. |
I thought he mentioned he had a second set of COPO wheels for the car. Not sure how he could afford them, but that's what he said in the video. :sieg:
FWIW - 17" Rally wheels were my second choice. Brake caliper clearance swayed me to 18" V-40's. |

There is something attached at the rear of the inside rear view mirror, kinda like sunglasses holder. Can't make it out though
