meenaggie 02-20-2014 07:46 PM

Good To Go . . . Got To Go . . . But in this case I am guessing Get Together.

Revved 02-21-2014 08:34 AM

GTG... Get together... Here I am trying to talk "Forum" and still can't pull it off.... I'll be in the shop if you need me.
:animated_bye_bye_em

GregWeld 02-21-2014 09:13 PM

I'll be there Wednesday before the show.... and then will be there for the week until the USCA event the following weekend.

I hear Ed has special parking for the "rig" for me.... LOL

I'm bring The RideTech Camaro and the Hobaugh Camaro for the Auto X --- and the new '33 for the show...

I also just signed and mail the form for the Texas GoodGuy Hall of Fame Road Tour... so will be that way again for the October show.

glassman 02-21-2014 10:09 PM

Should I bring a tow strap??

LOL

gerno 02-22-2014 08:23 AM

I'll be heading up there for the weekend but unfortunately without a car most likely.

LOL

For you maybe!
it was my "first" trip out in the car after being on stands for 20 years or so....and my trip was ALMOST flawless lol.....

Revved 02-22-2014 02:17 PM

I'm 10 minutes from TMS so I'm local to the area and I'm planning on being down at the show sometime over the weekend. If anyone else is coming in a day or two early like Greg let's get something together in downtown Roanoke. Over the last few years they've renovated it into a historic downtown district with some great restaurants.

Also, like last time, I'll offer up if anyone has mechanical issues I've got a shop and a hoist! :weld::superhack:

:goodguys:

carbuff 02-22-2014 03:36 PM

I'll be driving up Thursday afternoon if all goes as planned. Should be there through Sunday. I'm staying at the Motel 6, on the SE corner of 35 and whatever that crossroad is that the track is off of. :)

Revved 02-23-2014 02:16 PM

I35W and Highway 114.

For those of you returning from previous years it will look a little different. They've had the whole area in front of TMS torn up for nearly the last year while they construct new ramps for what will likely be service roads and possibly a through fare help mitigate race weekend backup. For those of us who live in the area, unless you are going to a race you avoid the Speedway like the plague on race weekends. The cops do what they can but it has only been two lane roads coming and going past the speedway for as long as I've been here so it gets messy.

will69camaro 02-23-2014 03:40 PM

When is this?

carbuff 02-23-2014 03:50 PM

March 14-16

rickpaw 02-24-2014 07:29 AM

I was planning on going, but had to reschedule my kids birthdays for that weekend. They're only 6 & 4 once.

Oh well, there's always the fall show. My car should be completely sorted out be then.

2keaton11 02-26-2014 10:26 AM

Luckily this is only 15 minutes from my house. Wish I had my camaro completed to compete in the auto-x event! Hope to see some good action going on. If anyone needs info on where to stay, places to eat and things to do holler and I can help you guys out.

Actually they like the new car shows better. They can touch/seat/drool on the new cars.

I'll make the fall GG. I promise.

So as of today, it's going to be a thrash for me to get TOW ready to drive up to FW. I'm determined to try, and Eric is certainly willing, but parts vendors are making things tough on us...

The latest schedule as of this afternoon looks like we will get the parts back in our hands on Wednesday, the day before I'm planning to drive up. Fun... :headscratch: The big holdup is the exhaust. We're replacing the front section with oval pipe to help with ground clearance. We needed some oval flanges to be able to unbolt everything. It turns out that for the ones we chose, there were only 3 in-stock in the distributors in the US. The 4th one is having to come from Canada. I was hoping it would be at the distributor today, but I didn't receive the confirmation call I was supposed to get. That means I have no idea when I'll have it in my hands. I was going to overnight it to us to have on Tuesday so that Eric could wrap up the pipes mid-week, and then take them to the ceramic coater. He's quoting me 5 days to get them done.

To add insult to injury, we dropped off the 9" chunk to a local driveline shop to check the settings (it's been noisy almost since new). Well, it needed some shims for the noise, but they also found the bearings were pitted. And of course they don't have the bearings which Strange used in stock, so those won't be in until Monday, meaning we'll get the chunk back around Wednesday most likely. That wastes Eric's time as he has to install and remove the torque arm to craft the exhaust before the chunk is ready. All on a 1300 mile brand new chunk! :(

:bigun2:

We'll get her there, but I'll have to miss the practice auto-x I was planning on the 9th, and we'll be pushing to make the 13th.

GregWeld 02-28-2014 06:43 PM

I'll have Hobaugh's Camaro available to the highest bidder....

SHHHHHHHHHH..... don't let him see this.

BlackenedRR 02-28-2014 07:35 PM

I'll be up there on Friday and Saturday, love that I live close to the track.

See it! It has a reserve. :G-Dub:

GregWeld 02-28-2014 08:59 PM

Oops! BUSTED....

LOL

It's okay Brian -- I didn't have any takers anyway. Maybe they're all scared of that monster!

Too funny. We all could wear "I beat Brian Hobaughs Camaro" t-shirts for the weekend.

kpc01 03-02-2014 09:03 PM

Whats the chances of anyone coming down from N. Cal that has a spot for a bare chasis? I'm trying to get a C10 chasis from that area and figured with Good guys coming up there may be a few people making the drive down?

73CPCAMARO 03-04-2014 06:34 PM

My Camaro is ready to go! I am really looking forward to Texas and the Goodguys event and USCA.

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...ps7a965787.jpg

See you guys there!
Brian

GregWeld 03-04-2014 10:45 PM

Good! Because I just arrived for the night at Corning. Be at Brizios in tha morning around noon. And then head to Fremont!

Revved 03-09-2014 11:34 AM

So when are most people hitting town?

GregWeld 03-09-2014 10:00 PM

Vinnie (the Optima truck driver) and I are leaving Laguna Seca in the morning (Monday AM) and plan to arrive TMS Wednesday afternoon...

chichirone 03-10-2014 12:14 AM

I'll be heading out to TMS for GG's and the USCA events. Hope to have my Camaro on the auto-x at GG's and the TA at the USCA event. I live 20 mins from the track so if anybody needs any recommendations on where to get some good food for the BBQ let me know. Roanoke is a good spot as mentioned (Babes Fried Chicken ROCKS!) and there are some great spots to hang out in Southlake Town Center off 114 and Carroll. Check out the new Del Friscos Grill, TruFire, or Trulucks in the Town Center or hit Feedstore BBQ in Southlake if you guys get a chance. Safe travels to Texas. A Lateral-g GTG would be cool. Look forward to meeting you guys.

2keaton11 03-10-2014 04:03 AM

^^ what he said if you get a chance to go to babes! Roanoke is too close to miss out on that experience. What day does the auto-x start and time? I would like to come watch.

2keaton11 03-10-2014 04:07 AM

I'm going to bring this - so I'll have that covered. If Bryan stops by I'm going to BBQ him some good food! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sweet setup GregWeld! I have only been to this event once I'll have to drive around and look for your rig.

GregWeld 03-10-2014 05:26 AM

Jay === Do you know BBQ better than Bryan?? Just sayin'...... LOL

Keaton ---- I don't know where I'm going to park. Apparently there is an "RV" parking section there on the grounds ---- but I've been known to get an upgrade from time to time.

Once the show starts (GG) You'll have to either find me at the Auto X -- or wherever the '33 Ford is parked. Hopefully right there close to the Auto X given all the iron I'm bringing down.

And then of course again the next weekend for USCA event -- since I have all the timing equipment and cones... and two contestants cars -- let's just hope this old pig makes it!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

chichirone 03-10-2014 08:03 AM

Sounds like there is a good story in that question.

The GG's auto-x begins at or around 8am Friday and runs until 4:00pm. Same for Saturday. Sunday same start time but it ends earlier.

Revved 03-11-2014 07:22 PM

Babes is a local landmark... if you guys haven't eaten there you have to!! Problem is that anytime after about 6:00 Friday-Sat there is a minimum of an hour wait to get in. If the Auto-x is running till 4 it would be a stretch to get everyone there by 6:00 on Friday.

If everyone driving in for the show will be there by Thursday what about trying to do something around 6ish at Babes in Roanoke on Thursday night?

GrabberGT 03-12-2014 08:51 AM

Trying hard to get the Maverick ready to be there. Finally have the motor installed but its giving me fits on getting it running.

Revved 03-13-2014 09:48 AM

Holy Crap... It's Thursday already!!

Anyone in for Babes tonight? 6ish?

Call me on my cell.. 817 403 8565

carbuff 03-13-2014 04:42 PM

I'm headed there now, I made it in time.

Brown shirt, white cap, blue car. :)
