Finch is taking Ford to the dance

I know most everyone knows me to be at home behind the wheel of my 71 Camaro. What most dont know, is that I am a Ford guy from way back, and have owned at least one Mustang every single day since I was 15 when I purchased my first car a 68 Mustang coupe.

I am currently underway on my next project which I hope to use to put Ford back on the Pro-Touring map and kick some butt on the track. I have not locked on the color just yet but thought I would share just a peak of what is coming at you.

Eric Brockmeyer is handling the renderings on this one and has knocked it out of the park on the first try. More to come once we have the color figured out.

What does everyone think? Have I lost my mind??????

zbugger 03-04-2014 07:00 PM

Yes.

Damn True 03-04-2014 09:17 PM

So am I seeing an S197 or am I seeing modern bits grafted on to an old chassis?

camcojb 03-04-2014 09:22 PM

I like it, very aggressive.

dunnjun 03-04-2014 09:36 PM

No your not crazy... as long as you put an LS in it. ;-)

You beat me too it Karl! :lmao:

dunnjun 03-04-2014 10:10 PM

I should have said as long as you put a Kurt Urban LS in it!

Flash68 03-04-2014 10:53 PM

I'd much rather see you in a 60's/70's Mustang than a late model, Finch.

The last thing I think of when I think pro touring is a late model Mustang.

Hey, you asked, so I opined. :)

You lost your mind long before this project!

Agreed. :trophy-1302:

BBC71Nova 03-05-2014 06:10 AM

I'm sure it will be an awesome ride. Where can late models compete alongside other PT cars? I was thinking that GG, etc limited competition to older cars? Otherwise, someone just go buy a new Z28 and have at it :D . Although I do remember seeing Fox bodied 'Stangs out there so...

Rick D 03-05-2014 06:31 AM

Can't wait to see what direction this goes??. :trophy-1302: new mustang or old looking like a new mustang??? :popcorn2:

Track Junky 03-05-2014 06:59 AM

Seen one in my rear view mirrior a couple of days ago. First thought was,"Man, the front end of that Mustang is pretty sweet looking."
Then the Ford hater standing on my shoulder smacked me on the back of my head

tazzz2_ca 03-05-2014 07:12 AM

Finch will never let anyone down with advanced thinking and execution in his Pro-touring builds,,, makes me think this is a lot deeper than we might think..... Boys still water runs real deep,,, and Finch is the ocean so hold on to your pants as I'll bet we're in for a Hell of a ride here....

Karl, I do not know how to build anything without a Kurt Urban engine, so will see how this goes. Little birdie told me he was refining a positive pressure version of the engine I run in my 71.

dunnjun 03-05-2014 09:53 AM

Oh Yeah!!! After I thought about it for a minute, I realized there was no way that it wouldn't have a Kurt Urban motor in it! :guns: :guns: This is going to be one/the Bad a** Mustang! :bigun2: Can't wait to see this come together. I'm subscribed. :popcorn2: Good luck Brian, and to me, that blue that's on the rendering looks darn good.

Ketzer 03-05-2014 10:13 AM

Uhg, a late model? Even an LS can't help that....:underchair:

Jeff-

Newer or Older, I'd like to see more Fords on the PT scene.

I approve Brian!

Eric started playing with some color and stripe options. Also a little sneak peak at the rear.

glassman 03-05-2014 05:47 PM

Personally, i dont give a crap where its made or who makes it and what year it is. is it fast? does it stop? does it handle? do the seats "grab you"?, does the sound say "drive me hard"?, does it not look like a turd? Thats pro-touring for me.....but its still not a Camaro lol (although i'm a closet Mustang lover).....

Looks pretty neat but if its getting a LS engine, not so much. BORING!

And how will that help put Ford on the map with a LS?

Vegas69 03-05-2014 07:02 PM

I have to say I agree with the metrosexual thing.

Finch 03-05-2014 07:40 PM

I am just waiting for Ford to see this post and step up with a blown 5.8 for free.:stirthepot:

Al Moreno 03-05-2014 08:07 PM

Nice rendering! Can't wait to see more

There is so much cool in this engine!

tones2SS 03-07-2014 04:47 PM

I'm loving it!!
Looks like a Whipple sitting on top of that block. What size? I'm guessing that engine is good for about 700-800 horse. Torque monster too.
Keep us posted!

4.0 so take those numbers up. This engine also will not fall off after the first lap

Just drop in a Super Cobra Jet Engine, They make around 900HP In stock Trim.

It would take a healthy LS to do that . .

If the boss 5.0 will fit, I imagine just about anything will fit.

Call me crazy but the thing that jumped out at me first about this motor is the dual throttle bodies allowing a symmetrical intake? Thats going to look slick. The uber hp motors are becoming too common place around here.

NOPANTS68 03-08-2014 10:58 AM

I'm not sure I understand. You're putting a blown lsx into a coyote car to put Ford on the PT map? Are you getting a wrecked V6 car or a body in white to start? I think a stock 2014 GT with a set of tires would beat all but 10% of the PT old iron out there anyway. Would be sad to spend a pile of dough on a car Chevy people don't understand and Ford people hate unless it's just what you wand do out of bordem.

mexMan 03-08-2014 12:06 PM

Beyooteefool... Keep the 5.0, higher compression, intake and exhaust, you know, the whole shebang.

The dual throttle bodies is because even a single 102 mm chokes the intake air flow.
