ZR9 Camaro Dyno Break-In

The 427 / LS9 in the ZR9 made 803 HP on the Mast engine dyno, and we built the car around it. In this video, we brought the car to the chassis dyno down the street from our shop to see how everything worked in the car. We had a few glitches, including a drive-by-wire throttle limited to about 35%, but ended up putting over 620 HP to the wheels. Informative day.

I really really enjoyed that!!! I love the blue calipers, what color is it going to be?

V8TV 03-21-2014 02:45 PM

Glad you liked it, Paul. The car is going to be ZR1 Jetstream blue. It's going to be really sharp.

These will have black inserts when the car is completed.

I think it's a commonly available powder color, but it is striking.

Very neat Kevin!

Do you plan on doing a re-dyno once car is together?

Yes, we'll work on the tune at that point. The wideband interface on the dyno had some issues, so we were only using the ones on the car, so we need to re-check the cal later.

By the way, the wideband O2 sensor interface failed on the dyno, so do not believe the air fuel numbers you see on the screen in the video. We were using the wideband in the car and it was in the high 12s under load and min 13s cruising. Those 7xx numbers look bad!

Thank you for the very kind words, you obviously "get" what V8TV is all about. We just want to share the cars, not the nonsense.

If we could get you and Kelle on a mainstream network, maybe we could get more people into this hobby. Right now, I think most shows scare people away from it. Keep up the great work, that video was great!
