Track day at Buttonwillow April 12, 13
Just wondering if anyone was going to this? Looking for some friendly faces. I've signed up for the driving school event since this is my first time.
www.ncracing.org It's only taken me 3 years!! :) |

Maybe try to get a group together when NCRC returns to Buttonwillow 27-28 Sept? It could be great fun: ) Have a great time. Regards CurtiSS 69 |
I usually like to hit the September NCRC Buttonwillow event. If my car is still in one piece in September I'll be going then.
|
Thanks guys. We'll see about September also.
I'm just wanting to get out there and get this under my belt. Not looking to get "bit" by the bug, can't afford to. :) I'm really wanting to run at Laguna Seca, get a pic of the car there, and then hang it up! :D |

It always starts with a cheap track day...

If you have tailpipes and a stock rear bumper. I have a way of easily passing sound at Laguna Seca for under $100 with all new parts (cheaper with used). You can go from 96dB -loud- to 88dB. That way you will get to use full throttle there everywhere: ) It can be removed in 10 minutes, so you can to cruise Monterey-Carmel afterwards with sound! Regards -CurtiSS 69 |
I'm Trying To Make It Next Sunday

Glad to see more guys hitting track days. Hoping to get back to it soon, the itch is strong!

Well --- I for one -- was there.... and watched you wheel that around and I can tell you that I'd defend you to the death for your 'mod'... as FUGLY as it was --- it all went away when I saw how well your car performed and more importantly - how well you drove it. It was ridiculous but more importantly it was effective.... and many people only wished they could pass you so they didn't have to look at it --- but couldn't! By the way --- your mod was out there to see ---- trust me --- if you walked around and looked at the cars -- UNDERNEATH and actually looked at them -- there were more weird (innovative?) dime store - hackey motto mods and each one was more hysterical than the next. |
Are we talking about the dark green Camaro that was hauling ass without a bunch of bling bling suspension? Man talk about a sleeper!

Yes that is the one. The build strategy was different...The driver got the most of the mods not the car:omg: It was built long before all this great stuff we have today was available. I bought it from the original owner, & I just don't have the heart to cut it up for big tires which it desperately needs. Regards CurtiSS 69 |

Here are a few photos: A shot on the track: http://bangshift.com/gallery/optima-...ca/?pid=179912 On the road rally after a stop at the beach:) http://stblogs.hotrod.com/files/2014...eet_Car_32.jpg Regards -CurtiSS 69 |
I talked to you briefly about the color in between rounds, love it! I think your car and your attitude are what these events are all about.
If you haven't already, you should post a picture and a lil back ground on what's been done, whatever it is it clearly works! Subtle lil car with mufflers hangin out the back haulin ass! Nice work! Dan |

Yes, thank you for the pics. That is a sleeper, very nice.
Are those mufflers hanging out the rear? |

Yes. I was having fun, and thanking my lucky stars that the event was just a little more than an hour from home at a great track with great weather. I really hope the event returns to Laguna Seca next year. The car is pretty basic. Here it goes: Suspension: Global West Springs front coils & rear leafs, Koni replacement shocks. 1" Addco front AR bar & 3/4" rear bar modified to reduce stiffness. The geometry is stock (I tried the Gulstrand, & it didn't work for me). 16:1 manual quick steering box. Tires: 255/40-17 BF Goodrich Rival's. Brakes: C4 Corvette 12" front & '96 Z28 Camaro rears. '77 Malibu master cylinder. Summit proportioning valve. Need 12" to fit with the stock rally wheels for normal use. Motor: 1st gen Iron block 350 with a 400 crank. Comp 274 cam, AFR 180's, Edelbrock Qjet RPM manifold, Summit 750 carb, Custom modified Hedman headers. Transmission: TK500. It cruises down the freeway at 1900rpm: ) 3.42:1 gear out back. Regards -CurtiSS 69 |

Yes they are. Here's what was put on: (2) 2 1/2" Walker Super Turbo mufflers 17733's (2) Walker hangers WLK-35103 Ordered from Summit. 36" of 1.5" angle iron for connecting to the bumper. There was a little sawing & drilling, but it was pretty easy. You can hear it at the 12:00 point on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOOS1...are_video_user. I luckily got on camera during a Big Muscle Episode. I did the test day Mary Pozzi recommended with HOD. Regards -CurtiSS 69 |
Guy's
Thanks for the kind words, & hope to see all of you -in your cars- at future events. Regards -CurtiSS 69 |
