USCA - Portland International Raceway Aug 1-3, 2014
Who's in and who's on the fence? This is a great opportunity for the local PT community and an event that I'd hope will happen on an annual basis.
It would also be great to see our southern neighbors on our home turf for a change. :D PIR is a great venue offering a park like atmosphere and should generate a good spectator gallery based on average attendance of the Wednesday night Cruise In and Drag turn out. http://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-N...NpX5GFZ-XL.jpg The annual Historic Races also consistently draw a large field and gallery. http://sieg.smugmug.com/Cars/PIR-His..._MG_3730-L.jpg http://ultimatestreetcarassociation....nd-or-aug-1-3/ http://portlandraceway.com/ |
Three cars so far from this area, Charger, an early Barracuda, and a CTS-V. I'm also trying to rally more friends and family to come being that its only a few hours away.
It's going to be a great event! |
Well naturally -- I'll be there.....

Brian, that just made my weekend! I know Mike Maier was talking about being there as well.
It's gonna be a blast! |
Good to see a PT event in the NW !
|

He's got to do something with that fugly air cleaner though! I was wondering when I first saw exterior pictures if it looked worse from the drivers perspective.......it does. |
I am going to try and be up there, with or without my car.

Good! Sieg and I <no! We are not becoming a couple> will be running Sonoma Raceway event - NorCal Shelby Mini Nats that weekend... Charley will be at Hot August Nights.... Ron Sutton will once again be suckered in to be my pit boss! Keeping me calm and out of trouble -- while we work with new tires for the Lotus and Mustang and try to get a few more details ironed out before some big plans this winter. So if you don't make it to Ptown --- come see us at Sonoma! |

It's not "bailing" so much as it is... er.... uh.... Well.... We'd rather drive than watch someone else drive... My toys don't qualify for USCA... and I have ZERO interest in trying to make either one of them anything that is even fake "street car".... Not so much as a turn signal... and they're NEVER EVER NEVER EVER going to run 200 TW anything... So I pondered and thought and did that for at least a 1/10th of a second before the decision was very clear -- drive my cars at Sonoma... or sit and watch some cars run PIR.... It really wasn't a tough decision. LOL |
By the way -- this (my not making PIR USCA) should by no means be taken as a lack of support for USCA - Jimi and Wally (FM3) and Optima Battery (Cam Douglas) and all the other sponsors have built you guys one hell of a great series! I know that because I went to Laguna Seca - and to Texas Motor Speedway events!
I just don't get enough track time as it is -- and the dates conflict with NorCal Shelby Mini Nats at Sonoma -- otherwise I'd be at PIR in a heartbeat!! |
BOOOOOO! I don't get it, drive in beautiful Sonoma or stand around in Portland...oh wait, now I see.
It looks like Potland is a Thursday through Saturday event, so maybe you can swing in on the way south? Or just honk as you blast through! |

I'll do you the same "favor" I do for Charley when I blast past his place and I don't have time to stop.... I text him and ask "How many fingers am I holding up?" |

Well... in that case plan on bringing a chair. |
I'm going to try and make it. Truck still needs some work before it's ready to play with the big boys and I need to grow some bigger... onions...
|
My car will be there, although I will be in Michigan for a family obligation. Steve Heino, the builder, will be doing the driving. Truth be told, he's a better wheel man than I am :) But I'm still sorry to miss the fun in person ...
|
It is almost that time! I hope those of you in the North West will attend this event and show that your support for a great organization. Events like this do not come along very often. USCA has done an outstanding job putting together a couple days of great car fun.
I hope to see you all there. Brian |
