4.10 or 3.90 with T56 / LS6
Hello!!
What is your recomendation for rear end ratio for a street/strip use . 4.10 or 3.90 ? Or is there really a big difference? I dont want the first to be too short.Or can it be too short at all  My tire is 25,5" tall (275/35/18) Plese share your experiences . |
Anyone with T56 and 4.10 s ? :_paranoid

I have 3.73's in my 94 z with a t-56,run great.1st is just right for the street,I have run 4.11's in it and it's nice to but 1st gear is damn short.

I have 4:11's +T56+LS6 and I wouldn't have it any other way. I can lift my right front tire launching!

I have no idea what i "want" . I am just after a good ride. Yes i love to spins tires and drive hard as we all do , but at the same time i am after a good driver. If 1.st is too short its pain to drive at the city. |
I am not saying 1st is bad,I am just saying when you are on the wood that 1st runs out real quick.

Well, if you think your first gear is too short you can always start on a higher gear. Like Clarkson did on Top Gear when he started the Z06 on fifth.

Thanks Jan - or get a powerglide  |
I had a 3.90 behind my T56 and 383 (about 450HP or so) and felt it was fun but too short. I sometimes would just start off in 2nd...(which was fun too!)...Anyways my new rear has a 3.73.

So my choice of 3:70 (9 inch Ford) in my Monte/LT1/T56 was good? I was concerned with a short first on the street, and useless 6th on anything but wide open highway.

I'm running a D&D T56 and 4.11's in my Fab 9. First gear is fine, definitely not too short. The 3.50 cogs I was running didn't allow for a very useable 6th.

I'm running 4.11's behind my T-56 and I think it works out great.
