67 Camaro Brake Setup Question - Disc/Disc
My project is moving along, and I'm currently working on the brake system.
Here is my setup. CPP Big Brake kit (Corvette 13" disc) with sealed bearing hubs CPP Wilwood 2 piston rear disc kit Brand new stainless steel hard lines My question is what brake booster/master cylinder/proportioning valve setup I should use. The car came with a similar setup to this: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3801/...da4794cf_c.jpg The stamping on the proportioning valve is PV4 which should be disc disc. I want to purchase a new setup. What do you guys recommend? I'm just looking for a simple setup that will work well with the modern disc brakes. TIA |
I'm using a wilwood proportioning valve and master cylinder, manual brakes

You may also want to look into 9" dual diaphram booster as well. The 9" will give you more clearance around the engine.

Thats a pretty set up ain't it?! I use it on all my builds now.
261-13270 is the full kit number for 1.120 bore. BK for black or P for ball milled silver. |

I have that same wilwood prop valve. How do you set it up (best place to position the dial before starting to try and fine tune it)? Any info would be appreciated. Never mind, I found it - http://www.wilwood.com/PDF/DataSheets/ds715.pdf

Here is the info that Wilwood gave me to setup my prop valve.
1. Set valve all the way open to 100% pressure flow (turn knob clockwise all the way until it bottoms out). 2. Turn knob counter clockwise (4) full turns, this is the starting point. 3. With an assistant outside of the car to watching the rear tires, run the car up to no more than 20 mph then get on the brakes aggressively (panic stop). 4. Based on the assistant’s observation, do one of the following: · If the rear tires skid at the same time as the fronts, then pressure will need to be taken away by turning adjustment knob counter clockwise in full increments and repeat the run. Continue adjusting until rear tires no longer skid. · If the rear tires do not skid, then turn the knob in clockwise to allow for more line pressure in full turn increments. Once the rear tires skid, go back and turn the knob counter clockwise in full turn increments until the rear tires no longer skid. |

Use a stock C5 set up. They are cheap on ebay. I did not nead prop valve, it was perfect as is. Plus with OEM parts you can still get parts for it in 10 years.
