Teflon lined hose or standard braided
 

Hi all iam at the point where iam intalling my new fuel system. I wanted to get a second opinion on choosing the line for my EFI fuel system. Iam running pump gas. I was running standard braided line before with no problems but ive been told that over time like 3 years that the line due to the ethanol in the gas will make the line bleed vapor giving a gas smell and then become hard and have to be changed. On the other hand ive heard nothing bad about the teflon line besides the price. Does anybody have any fuel line opinions?

Yes.... PTFE / Teflon Is the only way to go

Teflon hose is great but I never cared for bend radius or assembling the fittings. The Brown and Miller corrugated Teflon sounds perfect with crimped fittings but I have never had it in my hand. Then there is the braided stainless housing, I just don't care for it and prefer a cloth wrapped hose in black.

I have been using Viton hose from Phenix that is E85 compatible, so a little bit of ethanol is no big deal.

Go PTFE but do NOT buy the Summit or Jegs branded fittings. You can't get the things together, which may have been dontliftoshift's problem. There is obviously a manufacturing issue with those things and I did call those guys to tell them their stuff is junk. After I switched to Aeroquip fittings, I had zero issues. The bonus is you can use the same line for power steering and other high pressure applications.

There are a couple of tools that will make your life easier. A braided hose cutter and a doohickey that separates the braid from the PTFE. You can also try a cut off wheel. The heat produced will usually separate it for you.

i used the Earls fuel line when i installed my terminator efi. stuff was very easy to work with and best of all it doesn't leak. which is amazing since i made all the cuts and installed the ends myself. it is their new stuff that is ptfe

I'm using Summit PTFE, with Aeroquip ends. I always cut braided hose with a cutoff wheel, and it works like a champ. As stated above, I don't like the look of the braided hose either, and prefer the black wrapped lightweight stuff, with crimp-on ends, but I couldnt find it in a PTFE hose.

I got all Fragola PTFE and Fragola fittings for my project. Haven't got to installing it yet but plan to soon. It's all black too so wont be too noticeable.

We just got some of the Brown & Miller stuff for my fuel system recently from their Socal branch. Super nice and light stuff. A little spendy. :headspin:

Is the Brown and Miller hose a PTFE hose? I haven't heard of them before.

Ok thanks, I would have to say the teflon lined is the way everyone is going. With that said I will stay away from the jegs fittings and hose. I might try earls or aeroquip. Not sure if I should do the black cloth or the silver steel braid. I guess i need to see a few setups done. Options Options!!

I really like the Pegasus Racing product too. Very easy to work with.

They are also know as BMRS when I was in college at UNCC the would plumb our formula sae cars for us ever year. They are defiantly supplying hoses to the top nascar teams. The pro gold crimped hose is the best hose and fittings that you can get anywhere.

I gotcha. When the I-Core name popped up in the post above, which I have worked with in the past, I googled the name, and realized they were bought out by BMRS. And your right about the gold crimped on ends and hose. I still have some pieces of that stuff in the shop, and it's high quality stuff.

Pegasus Racing sells Goodridge PTFE hose that you can assemble yourself:
