Happy Dyno Day with my TVS 2300
First off, I want to thank my tuner Ed Hutchings from Hi Tech Tuning out of Chesapeake, VA. Many claim to have the best tuner, but for those in the know, Ed is one of the best by far and he proved his skills to me yet again.
http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/y...pse405f80f.jpg Here's the setup: Stock LS3 crate motor LS9 cam with stock valvetrain Magnuson TVS 2300 for a 2010 Camaro ported and fit for a Wegner 10rib front runner setup by Casey Wegner Injector Dynamics ID 850 injectors 12 pounds of boost C&R heat exchanger for 1969 Camaro (Ed said it was Very efficient) Kooks 1 7/8 headers with 3" exhaust Magnum t56 Moser 3.73 wavetrac 12 bolt rear Ricks Vaporworks tank with Camaro ZL1 pump and regulator (pump is maxed out) Now I originally thought it would make 8pds of boost, but I guess I got the wrong pulley, cause 12psi later we made some real steam: http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/y...ps937619bb.jpg 643 RWHP and 568 RWTQ! Ed gave it a really conservative tune and said the motor could take a lot more, but I was more than happy considering going in that I was going to make around 550 rwhp. http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/y...ps8133fca4.jpg http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/y...ps3f9b2b76.jpg The engine idles at 750 rpm, drives perfectly and on my drive home today to Northern VA, I managed 23mpg on a 225 mile trip from a car with roughly 760hp! I really couldn't be happier with my rather simple setup! Matt |
Congrats! Have fun and be safe. That's a lot of power.

Congrats Matt. Should be an E-ticket ride!

Nice work!! You got any more info on the car or a build thread I can check out?
|
That sounds and looks like it'll be a dern nice driver Matt...and loads of fun when you want it to be, congrats!
|
Thanks guys!

Nice!
That's what I want to do with my LS1 when I have the money. My biggest concern is trying to work out what kit to buy and how to use most of my current accessory drive. My accessories are stock 2004 GTO but with a Kwik Performance high mount A/C bracket on the passenger side. |

Lots of options to set up a Maggie. I bought mine used from a guy on Camaro 5 and saved a couple grand. You could try the same with the GTO forum. I had to send mine to Wegner to get it configured for their kit, and while it was there they ported it for me. Casey said it was worth about 25 hp. |

The stock GTO accessory drive had the low mount AC. Right now, all my accessories are on one belt. I don't think I would want to go over 10psi in my application anyway. If I go for a "kit" I'd like to figure out what the closest thing to what I have would end up being. The biggest issue being accessories of course. I'd like stuff to fit without having to add a whole new accessory drive to the price of the supercharger. |
Awesome results and perfect for a car that gets driven regularly. Great power from that TVS2300! Congrats again and looking forward to some track times if that is in this car's future!

Awesome! Nothing like a supercharger. :morepower :morepower

The difference between LS9 and (L92/LS3) heads is the type of material. LS9 heads were designed to handle higher boost, because they used a different type of material. Can you install an LS9 head on LS1 block? No. The bore size is smaller on LS1 as compared to L92/LS3. I do have a complete Harrop TVS2300 with Wegner accessory drive and all the accessories for sale, but it is for an L92/LS3/LS9 port. Yes, it work in 67-69 Camaro. I switched to LS9 Supercharger setup. The Wegner accessory drive has 2 different sizes of pulley. The small pulley is designed for engines that have custom forged pistons, crank, etc. I tested mine at 15psi in 2009. While the larger pulley is designed for stock engines. 8 psi. Magnacharger did design an LS1 TVS2300 supercharger kiit. The kit is described as a Hybrid TVS2300, but Magnacharger must have modified the kit with different ports. That kit is only 6psi.... If you pulled this from another car, then it is better to build around a fresh engine. Jeff |
Good Results on the TVS2300 LS3 engine.

Definitely max'ed out on the fuel pump at that power level. It's time for a CTS-V and a PWM controller.
Very nice setup. Magnuson cars are a riot to drive. |

Just a little fyi but Harrop does make the 1900 and 2300 TVS units for a cathedral port head. The only style TVS they make that doesn't work on that head design is the new FDFI style. |

I didn't look up Harrop, when I posted the reply. The poster main concern is cost, and he has 2004 GTO LS1 (pullout). The stock accessory drive won't work, so he has to get an accessory drive that will work. Wegner never developed for TVS2300, only LS3 and LS7 engines. One thing that I am glad that I did on my LS3 engine was the oil squirters, because I wanted my engine to last. Jeff |
Haha, I'm a cheap SOB. A new engine would definitely be out of the question. I might start building an engine at some point in time but not now. I don't have the money to get a supercharger at the moment anyway. BUT I am trying to make sure that if the right used deal comes up I'll know what will work and what won't.

What I'm trying to figure out is why the hell is there no videos posted yet?! Pretty rude of the OP if you ask me... Lolol
Sweet ride! |

Matt what did you do for a tank/reservoir for the heat exchanger and where did you put it?
|
I used the stock tank that comes with a 2010 Camaro kit. Mounted it just to the PS of the radiator. Lots of options for this. I ran the lines thru the PS of the fender and have the pump located just to the side of the lower inlet to the heat exchanger. Works real good.

You have a part number for that inter cooler resi by chance?
|
its the stock one from Magnuson that comes with the 2010 Camaro kit.
|
Nice work! Is your crank pulley pinned ?
|
The reservoir is a Ford Lightning part.
|
My question is what gas are you running?
If 93 how are you running 12 pounds safely and making good power? My understanding is you'd need to retard the timing significantly at that boost, really hurting power output? The stock LS3 compression of 10.7 (or is it 10.9) is pretty high for 12 pounds on anything but E85 or meth injection as far as I can understand. |

I'm adding an LSA supercharger to an L92 w/ 10.5 compression so this is very pertinent to my interests haha. Either way really cool build! |
