Texas Fall Goodguys-Any one from Houston going?

I'm planning on attending th fall GG show in Texas Motor Speedway. Will leave Houston Sat morning and leave Sun afternoon.

Any one from Houston planning on going? If schedule works out, it will be nice to caravan together.

Williams, will you be leaving Sat morning?

To be honest I'm not sure yet. Looking at the calendar I actually have another event that same weekend so gonna have to make some decisions. Luckily both are in Dallas.

Cars and Coffee Dallas that Saturday morning, then cruise over... may not be a bad combo to consider. C&C Dallas is a few miles West of my house on the way to TMS, so for me - easy. If you want to do the C&C and show your car, be there 6:30am-ish. C&C fills up fast. If you drive up Friday and want to stay the night there are a few hotels near the C&C location.

Gwen and I will be there in her '33 Ford Hiboy Roadster.... driving in with the GoodGuys Hall of Fame tour from Pleasanton...

Cool. Hope to meet you guys there.

Scratch that! We WERE doing this tour... until a mysterious malady popped up in the '33 last week. Seems the block will overheat - while everything else in the cooling system stays stone cold. I spent 3 days tearing into it - doing everything that I know how to do - everything Brizio knows - and everything that Don Hardy (engine builder) knows how to do... No change and no fixxxededededed it.

NEXT YEAR!!

Well that sucks! Are you going to come to the show anyway? I know you were planning to hit Austin after...

We're flying into Austin on the 4th.... But no on the show. Shows aren't much fun unless you actually have a car there IMHO.

Fly in to Austin, buy a car from SW (aka Street King), drive it to the show.

Problem solved.

Yeah! A twin turbo Lambo would be a real show stopper.....

I've run thru 40 scenarios in an effort to make this tour. Trust me - Gwen and I were really looking forward to it. A stop on the tour is at Pinkee's Rod Shop where my '40 Ford Pickup is being built ---- The Roadster Shop made a special effort to get the new chassis to them in order to have the cab mounted etc -- so we'd have something to look at....

Charley and I have just been discussing -- I could have loaded her up -- stopped in Reno at Summit and picked up a crate LS3 motor and then had Brizio's crew get the motor in and made the trip. If I wasn't right into building a new house -- and we just received our final truckload of household furniture etc on Friday.... and we have meetings this week with builder and architect --- so maybe it's just as well we aren't out of town right now. Otherwise I might have made a herculean effort. We just figured we'd go next year.

Sorry to hear that Greg. My first buddy, second, and third bailed out with work responsibilite's last min so i'm ridin solo once again. Pammy said she would like to go next year too but we'll see.

Hopin to go to T-Hill on the 15th?, but second time on a road course and its the big track, i'm intimidated by it. Maybe i'll see ya there.

rickpaw 09-21-2014 09:45 AM

Sorry to hear that Greg.

On similar note, my buddies bailed on me too, and I missed the deadline to register the car. So I may show up with my DD.

Damn, I was reminded that this was the same weekend as the Texas Invitational. I may be at GoodGuys for a short time one day (likely Sunday) but Texas Invitational is my priority for that weekend.

How about you fly to Austin a week early and get my car running. You and Gwen can take it to Dallas and run the hell out of it while I'm at a wedding.....

Oh you're a sneaky one.... you are! HA!

I really wish I had the time to get you up and running -- but I can't seem to fix a simple overheating issue... not sure I'm that good of an LS mechanic!

Plan on being there Saturday! If anyone breaks down and needs a shop to mechanic in mines available fairly close to the track.
