J-ROD '67 Nova
We are currently building this '67 Nova for a local customer. It will debut at SEMA '14!!!
I've been a big fan of the forum, and thought I would share some build pics of this project! It started out as a simple job that the owner just wanted to "repaint"... He bought the car online... (you know where I'm going with that...) After looking at the car I knew that it had some issues, but I didn't quite expect it to be as bad as it was... Its amazing what some people are okay hiding/ selling. Heres where it started: http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_8349.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_8347.jpg This is the BOTTOM of the floor...http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_8346.jpg We got some of the bad sheetmetal out of the way http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_8387.jpg YES that is a ROAD SIGN!http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_8386.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_8385.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_8380.jpg |
You mean they didn't come from the factory with road sign sheetmetal?:superhack:

We try to build all our exhausts before the floor goes in, paying close attention to ground clearance...http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_0837.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_0839.jpg |
tucking the rear bumper... What a difference this made!!!

Very nice work you have going on there, I just love these Novas! Great fab work.
|
Very impressive metal work! Wish I had those skills. Keep the updates coming.
|
that is a very impressive build, great fab work, love the wheels and stance:thumbsup:
|
Looks great, guys! Good luck making SEMA.
|
Subscribed. Build is looking great. It's a shame how much cancer was hidden.
|
Like others said . . . looks amazing! Sure you didn't mean SEMA '15? SEMA '14 is in 45 days so I will watching this one come together in a hurry. 67 Nova is one of my favorites and looks like you are building an extremely nice one.
V-bands is a good idea on the exhaust. Have them right behind the mufflers on my '68 Camaro and is making it easier (for the shop) to pull the exhaust system while the rest of the car is being worked on. |
You do beautiful work ! I'm going to enjoy watching this go together. Subscribed!
|
Looks like you just skip welded the firewall in? Is that the finished welding for it or did you weld the seam 100% all the way around? Or do you fill in between those skip welds with a sealer and call it a day?
The metal work is very nice, I love the way the front inner fenders sweep inwards. :popcorn2: |
Nice Craftsmanship.
|
This is one sweet built looking forward to seeing it at SEMA
|
Very nice work, cant wait to see it finished up!
|
Thanks for all the complements guys!!!

Few pics of the exhaust final welded!
http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1178.jpg We made the floor area above the muffler out of 11 gauge for structure to mount the seat and retain the ground clearance. http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1136.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1208.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1209.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1231.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1241.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1243.jpg |
Lookin Good.keep It U Mr. !!
|
Incredible work!!!!!
|
In for a Surprise!! :)
This build started off in 2011 and has been kept highly under wraps until the final days of the build... which is NOW!. The goal of the build was simple... Make the meanest, most badass 67' SS this forum has ever seen. No, not the most expensive... no not the prettiest daisy duke... but the most Unique, Fab Focused / Performance Driven Street Machine we could possibly manufacture with a blue collar's income and a new and upcoming fab team at J-Rod and Customs. We have been incredibly lucky to have the support of Art-Morrison Co., Mast Motorsport, Rushforth Custom Wheels, Jason Rushforth Design Team, Classic Instruments, McFarland Upholstery, Optima Battery, ProGlass, American Powertrain, Baer Brakes, etc. What a truly amazing experience this has been and it is an honor to finally have the opportunity to share everyones hard work and dedication. As much as I hope everyone will enjoy these next few days as we slowly release this build to the public, I would highly suggest that if you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity please come see the car in person at SEMA in little over a month for its debut. The car is truly remarkable and the story behind the build is just as cool! Thank You again to everyone who has been apart of this build. I have to mention an incredible Thank You to Jason Rushforth (Design) and Jared Hancock (Fab Genius who I will no longer be able to afford after this car is released!) Thank You and enjoy! Alan Holland, Car Owner

You will definitely have one bad ass car Alan! I had the opportunity to see it last week and am still blown away, unbelievable!
Sure glad you guys decided to post the build pictures! Dan |
Thanks for posting so we could enjoy the fine work you guys are putting into this build. I'll be watching to see it finished.
|
Great fab word indeed. Also nothing wrong with that Art Morrison chassis. I cant wait to see it at SEMA.

Heres a few more pics!
We hardlined the heater and A/C lines inside the inner fenders, and hide the dryer and trinary switch in the front corner. worked out pretty well... http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1794.jpg This is our heater line "bulkhead", it comes straight off the LS7 water pump...http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1795.jpg Our new front bumper mount. http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1525.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1526.jpghttp://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1527.jpg Starting to flush mount the glass, and go over some designs with Jason Rushforth. http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1629.jpg |
Very very very nice work!!!!!!
|
Top notch!
|
Nice work! The bumper supports are beautiful!
|
Pictures just do not do this car justice!! The craftsmanship on this car is second to none! Attention to detail and form meets function, killer work JRod!
|
Great work I have a 66 with 67 front clip want to make tucked bumpers for me? ☺
|
What a great build...the fabrication on some of these projects must take quite a while to plan out.Really great work, looking forward to seeing the finished ride
|
We got the car off the table and started fab in the chin spoiler as well as finished the front bumper! The bumper is now 1 3/4" narrower, the ends are completely different, they fit perfectly flush with the fender and also carry the body line to match, and the center has been peaked (shaving front license plate area).
http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1660.jpg We also made a part that goes across, under the grill to divide the bumper and grill..http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1661.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1663.jpg Heres a pic showing the splittler that closes out the front under body. It also ties into the front alum wheel tubs. http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1779.jpg |
Looking good gentleman.
The wheels and stance look awesome, some info on the wheels , sizing and width ??? Keep up the great work, I am definitely subscribed Thank you for some great ideas I'm going to use.. |

Heres some more progress pics!
We put the fuel filler in the trunk jambhttp://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1818.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1820.jpg At this point 90% of the fab work was done... We disassembled the body to have it blasted again, before we start bodyworkhttp://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1849.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1855.jpg We started bodywork in the engine bay, It was nice to have it on the rotisserie for thishttp://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1875.jpg We used a bed liner on all the floors, top and bottom.http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1878.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1877.jpg The frame is smooth satin black.http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1895.jpg Some subtle mods to the dash include moving it back towards the driver 3". http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1997.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_1999.jpg We made a killer little spoiler for the trunk lid! http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_2024.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_2027.jpg |
Awesome work. I love the fuel filler idea!
|
Same here great idea on the gas fill. I like that the frame is different from the floor finish. Really nice job!
